Everything and everyone froze for a moment as though time had stopped. Christopher and Enock had landed on the dirty floor hard. Dust rose and formed a choking cloud around them before settling back down. Before Christopher could take stock of his body and determine if the pain he felt required his immediate attention or not, the other two thugs descended on him and pulled him off Enock’s body. He struggled against the rough hands, but there wasn’t much he could do when the odds were not in his favor. The two pairs of hands were like vices around his arms.
