Hula hoops in history should have been produced in 1958 by two young toy manufacturers in San Gabriel, California. They are Richard Nell and Arthur Merlin, the co-owner of a manufacturing company called Whitmore. In March 1958, they met an acquaintance at a toy fair in New York.
