36 Picnic

As time goes by, Jared, Alex, and Elizabeth are in a good routine. Alex asked Jared to let him take a step back, instead of being one of the main faces in pack business, he has taken a much more active role in raising the pups. He didn't want Elizabeth to worry about their safety, so he always had them with him.
Alex gathered up the pups, he heads down to her office, knocked and opened the door.
"Hello," she said smiling at the pups.
"Mama" she heard the little voices calling. She scooped them up kissing them. Alex was carrying the girls and Kristoff was in a carrier on his chest.
Elizabeth smiled and went to Alex, kissing the girls and Kristoff she leaned over and kissed Alex as well. "You have been so great with them," she said smiling at him.
"Thanks, but you are the one that did the hard part."
Jared walked in, "Where are we taking them today?" He said smiling taking Kristoff and giving him a hug. Then he kissed the girls and the four boys.
"I thought maybe we could take them on a picnic and swim in the lake," Alex said looking at them both.
"Ok, I will go get us some food," Elizabeth said heading for the door with Elsa on her hip.
"The cooks already have a basket for us, we just have to grab it on the way out," Alex said laughing watching Elsa pulling at her mama's shirt. "Doesn't look like she wants to wait."
Jared laughed watching as well. "Wish we could get away with doing that in public."
"She would kick our asses." Alex agreed
"You two"
"Yeah? Can we?" Jared asked.
"NO" she fed the girls and Kristoff and they headed out.
Each carrying a pup, the four boys ran ahead laughing. Alex stopped and grabbed the basket on the way out. "Thanks, Jacob,"
"Who would have thought, you stepped up and are a pretty good dad," he said smiling at him. "Good thing or I would have to kill you."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Alex said taking his teasing. "Wanna come along?"
"Really?"
"Yeah, Cory is meeting us there."
"Sneak, he never told me."
"Come on then," Alex said grinning
They all headed for the lake talking and laughing.
Once they arrived, Cory came out chasing the boys around. The laughing could be heard all around the lake. Alex thought of everything, food, drinks, blankets to sit on, towels, the kids had suits on, he even packed suits for Elizabeth, Jared, and Jacob. The lake was surrounded by guards to ensure their safety. "Thanks for bringing the bags for me Cory."
"Hey no problem, otherwise I would have seen Elizabeth naked."
"What?" she said confused.
"He packed you two a suit, you too babe." he said winking at Jacob, "But you can go without yours."
"Bet the kids would love that." Jacob laughed.
"I would" Cory responded.
Jacob kissed Cory and headed into the bush to change.
Elizabeth and Alex got the boys to sit on a blanket and served them some of the food. The boys were super excited about seeing their favorites foods. Alex stood back and smiled watching them. They let the three younger pups lay on their stomachs watching surrounded by their favorite toys. Jared came out dressed in his swim trunks.
Elizabeth went to change and returned wearing a tiny bikini, "Really?" she said looking at Alex.
"Hey if I pack, I get to pick what I like right?"
"This isn't mine," she said staring at him.
"Sure is, I bought it for you yesterday."
"How did you find the time?" she asked confused.
"Boys helped me pick"
"Thought I was going to have to kick your ass," she said looking at him.
"I'm not that stupid"
"Good thing" she smiled, walked over to him and kissed him.
"I love you and our pups too much." he said when they broke, bending down he grabbed one of the girls, "come on Heartbreaker," he said and headed into the water.
Cory already had Zack and Zane in the water. Jacob had Xander and Xavier. Elizabeth took Princess and Jared took Kristoff.
All the pups loved the water and the day out. Jacob and Cory enjoyed the time with the boys. They both wanted pups of their own and loved spending time with the seven kids.
Coming out of the water, Alex and Elizabeth laid the girls down to sleep. They sat down on the blanket next to them and started talking watching the others. Alex put his arm around her and she leaned back into him.
"You have done a great job with them," Elizabeth said watching all the boys.
"We are different than you and Jared."
"I know, I'm sorry."
"No, you don't have to be. You are trying more than anyone, I know that. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives."
