Getting everyone to the residence, Jacob looked at Alex.  "I know you have been helping Elizabeth a lot.  She told me everything you have done for her and her pups, well, I still think you are an asshole, but Thanks"

Alex nodded, "I still think you're a d**k, but thanks."

Cory laughed, "Yes he is."

Jacob smiled, "You two are not allowed to gang up on me."

"Follow me," Cory said to Alex surprising him.

"Where are we going?"

"Your new room,"  Cory responded leading him down the hall.

Alex didn't move, he was almost frozen in his place.

"Come on,"  Jacob said realizing that Alex had not moved.

Alex finally followed them down the hall.  He was confused.  They showed him a room, it was very big and all his personal items were inside.  It was very nice and well put together, it looked nicer than he could have done it himself.  "Why would I have a different room?"  he finally asked.

"Elizabeth thinks she is going to need your help more, many Alpha's keep Beta's on their floor,"  Cory explained.  "We are in the room next to you."  He said pointing.  "I hope you don't mind, I figured with you having stayed at the hospital so long, you wouldn't want to deal with the move.  The boys helped me bring your stuff up here."

"You did a great job.  Are you sure she doesn't mind me being this close to her?"  He finally asked confused.

"Elizabeth is going to need help, plus you have a vested interest," Jacob stated

Alex nodded.  "I don't mind helping, my life is pretty boring.  The pups make me feel alive."

"We will let you get settled,"  Cory said, "I will come to get you shortly and show you around.  Ok?"

"I could use a shower, so that works."

They left him alone in his new room, Alex gathered up some clothing, laying them on the bed, and headed for the shower.  He was surprised at the size of the bathroom and the shower felt amazing.  Once he finished he got out, dried himself off, and wrapped a towel around his waist.  Heading out of the bathroom, he felt something he hadn't felt in months, sharp pain in his chest and a ringing in his head.  He couldn't breathe and finally, he passed out falling down.  

Cory had heard the noises and entered the room to see him clutching his chest and passing out, catching him before he hit the floor.  He mind-linked Jared that something was wrong.

Jared pulled on some pants and rushed into the room, calling for a pack-doctor to meet with him.

Cory explained to the doctor what had happened as he was helping him, Elizabeth stayed near the door watching.

"Has he found his mate?"  The doctor asked.  

Jared looked at Elizabeth.  "Why"

"If he found his mate, they still have the bond.  His mate was with another wolf."

Elizabeth's eyes went wide.  "How many times would this happen to him?"  She asked

"Every time they mate."  the doctor answered without even pausing.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"Absolutely"

"What if he rejected her?"  Elizabeth asked

"Did she accept it?"

"No, but she rejected him."

"Did he accept it?"

"No"

"Who rejected whom first?"

"He rejected her first."

"Did they mate after, before she rejected him?"

"They had s*x after."

"They still have the mate bond.  He needs to accept her rejection or this will continue to happen.  His rejection of her ceased once they mated.."  

"So every time, he knew and felt it?  He would have been in that pain and passed out each time?"

"Yes, if he was with a she-wolf, his mate would also feel it."

"That only happened one time," she said looking at Jared and then back to Alex.

"Can you do anything else to help him?"  Jared asked.

"No," the doctor said shaking his head.  "Just monitor him"

"We will do that, I will call if we need you."

"Of course Alpha,"  he said leaving the room.

"So we are still bonded," she whispered.

Cory was shocked, he looked between the two Alphas and at the unconscious Beta laying on the bed next to him.  "I can stay with him."

Elizabeth smiled at him, "Thank you for the offer, but I am going to stay with him."

"We will stay with him," Jared said.

"Ok, Jacob and I will take care of the pups."

"Thank you,"  Elizabeth said smiling at him.

Hours later Alex began to stir, finally opening his eyes he saw Elizabeth sitting in the chair next to the bed with her head resting on the bed asleep.  He reached out slowly, thinking this was just another dream, feeling her soft hair.  He began slowly running his fingers through her hair in a calming manner.

Jared awoke and just observed the two.

After some time had passed, Alex only caressing her hair and cheek, Elizabeth woke.

She slowly sat up looking at Alex.  "How many times has this happened to you?"

"It started at the Alpha meeting, it has happened a lot of times.  Nothing recently until today."

"Alex, I think you know what it is,"  Elizabeth said staring at him.

"I think I do," he said nodding but not looking at her.

Elizabeth looked at him in shock.  "You knew and still didn't accept my rejection?  You have to accept my rejection."

"I, I can't"

"If you don't we will both continue to feel pain from the other."

"No, I haven't touched any she-wolf since I found out what happened to you and our pups," he said shaking his head.  I swear."

"I know, but you have been getting hurt over and over again without saying anything."

"I deserve it."

"This is why you are so depressed."

"I am fine."

"No, No you are not,"  Elizabeth argued with him.

"Elizabeth, I just can't accept your rejection.  I don't know how we still have this bond, but I can't break it.  You are everything I always wanted.  I just can not do it.  I will take whatever comes my way, I deserve it and knowing your safe is enough for me."  

"You need to reject me so you can find your mate."

"I already did."

Jared had been silent the entire time.  "Well, we need to figure something out because this can not keep happening.  You are going to kill yourself like this."

Alex looked at him.  "I'm not accepting her rejection."

"Yeah, I heard."  

Elizabeth looked at Jared, "I swear, I didn't know."

"I should have figured it out when you had the pups.  What do we do now?"

Cory knocked and brought in Elsa and Anna, "They need to eat."

"Thank you Cory," she responded taking them.

"Princess and Heart Breaker,"  Alex said smiling as Elizabeth got ready to nurse.
