“DAISY, NO!” Noah and Hunter cried out simultaneously.
As if he were watching the scene unfold before him in slow motion, Noah watched as Daisy fell backwards, and Hunter lurched forward to catch her in his arms. Shaking uncontrollably, Hunter pulled the dagger from her hands, but it was too late. Blood hemorrhaged freely from her chest as she hung limply in his arms.
“Daisy, please, wake up,” Hunter whispered desperately, tears forming in his eyes. “SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!” He gripped her tightly and rocked back and forth, urging her to awaken over and over again. But she made no movement.
