Daisy woke with a start, sitting straight up and gasping loudly in shock. Trembling, she lifted her fingers to her chest, where she plunged the dagger straight through to her heart. She winced, expecting to feel the blade of the knife, or even the gash from the wound.
But she felt nothing.
She glanced down to find herself wearing a long, white sundress. Pinching the hem of her neckline, she tugged it away from her chest to peek down at her breasts.
The skin was completely smooth. There was not even a hint of a scar where she had stabbed herself only moments ago.
