“Say something,” Kade implored his grandmother, who sat on the couch next to Aleah, watching him as though he had grown an extra head. Linda shrugged. She glanced at Aleah and then at him. “What do you want me to say, Kade? The last time we spoke, you were on the island and Aleah was not well. You called me panicking” She suddenly stopped and turned toward Aleah again. “Oh, dear. I didn’t even ask.
