Kade chuckled but didn’t respond to her question. The bastard. He was enjoying having her on edge. Fine. Aleah pursed her lips and watched the scenery for any clues. This part of the city was undeveloped. There were no houses or apartments. No grocery stores and certainly no crowds of people loitering around the corners, waiting for their next fix. All she saw were trees and a road in need of serious repairs. But just before panic set in and she concluded Kade was in fact a secret killer, the scenery suddenly changed.
