Awkward silence characterized the drive into the business center of the city where it seemed Charlotte had an appointment. Kade kept his head straight ahead, staring at nothing but the road. He refused to even catch Charlotte’s reflection in the rearview mirror. Not that the woman was watching him. Her eyes were glued to her phone while her fingers tapped repeatedly on the screen. He heard her phone vibrate almost as fast as she typed as though she was in a heated text argument. Kade could hardly believe a woman of her age would be in a text argument, but who was he to judge? The constant vibrations of her phone did, however, remind him of his phone in his pocket which had vibrated at least two more times before it stopped.
