My mind was blank. It was as if it has lost its ability to think properly. I hear people's chattering around me. I can feel their movements. I can feel their existence. But all of them seemed to have lost its effect on me.
It has been two days since my mom died. Until now, everything still felt like a stab to my chest. In a single evening, I lost two of the most important people in my life. I hated how everything turned out. And I couldn't stop but hate myself and what I am for it.
I didn't asked to be a halfblood. I didn't want any of it. I was contented with my old, boring and miserable life. I really didn't want anything special. I just want to make my mother proud. If turns out I just made her life end.
The halfbloods buried my mom where all the rest of the deceased halfbloods were buried. There wasn't any ceremony. Just a simple goodbye from me and those who chose to stay to accompany me while I was grieving.
I couldn't help but let my tears fall. I couldn't help but be angry at the world. Of all the people I had to lose, why do it have to be her? She was the only person I've got. The only person who loved me, accepted me and took care of me even if I wasn't hers in the first place. And those monsters took her from me. If there are people who are responsible for all the deaths of all the families of all halfbloods here, there are only a group of people who are should be blamed—the Valeriouses.
I balled my fist. They are the ones who should be slaughtered. They are the one who should pay. Halfblood only wanted to survive this world the way normal humans do. And these vampires, they make our lives miserable that we all have to hide like insects, easy for them to crush and kill. It has to stop. Everything about this evilness has to stop.
I stood up from the seat where I had been sitting for eternity. Warmth tugged at my gut, a feeling grazing and vibrating like a drum rolling over and over again. I took a deep breath and walked out of the room. I need to talk to Hannah.
I spotted her in the armory with Elle. They were both wearing plain white shirts and black pants. They both turned to me, Elle giving me a small smile and Hannah giving me a slight nod.
"Peter, what took you here?" Elle asked in a small voice. "Are you looking for Blue? He's the one I usually see you around with. He's with Jared at the greenhouse."
I shook my head. "No, I was looking for you guys."
Hannah lifted an eyebrow. "Us? Why? Is everything okay? Do you need anything?"
Since the night Olivia and my mom died, Hannah hadn't been talking much to me. But whenever she does, she's being soft and kind. Gone was the Hannah who always sneers and scolds me for being stupid. But it wasn't the most important thing I should be focusing on.
"Nothing," I said. "Everything is fine. Where are you guys headed?"
"We'll go out and train." Hannah pulled out a blade from her back. "You look tired Pete. You could just go find Blue if you need someone to talk to."
Elle chuckled. "Right! The one never gets his mouth shut."
"I want to train with you guys," I said.
Both girls turned to me in a snap. They both stared at me like I said something foolish.
I cleared my throat and repeated myself. "I. . .I want to train with you guys. I. . .I want to join the revolution against the Valerious."
Elle and Hannah stared at each for a minute before they both turned to me.
"Are you sure Pete?" Elle asked, her face a mixture of amazement and worry.
I nodded, determination heating inside my chest. "Yes. I want you to teach me how to fight. To teach me how to kill vampires. I want to fight them. I want to make them pay."
The constriction in my chest felt like suffocating me. It felt like exploding. I needed to let it out before it kills me. I know in myself that this is what I want. This is what I need. Everyone who took a life of a loved one will pay for their crimes. I won't let any more halfbloods lose their families to any vampire. I will fight not just to save them but to eventually exterminate them from the face of the earth.
Hannah slowly grinned, her set of white teeth flashed at me. She then turned to Elle with a smirk.
"Look like we got a new blood revolutionary."
Elle grinned and nodded back. "Well, what are we waiting for? Get geared up Peter. We've got a long way to break your bones."
They pushed me inside the armory and gave me clothes to change for the training. I opened one of the drawers and pulled out the same pair of clothes that they were wearing. I hurriedly put them on and went back outside to meet them. They were talking when I got back and they both turned to me when I emerged from the door.
"Shall we?" I asked.
Hannah and Elle nodded at each other and Hannah tapped me in the shoulder. She walked past me and handed me a small dagger. "Keep that. You're gonna need it."
"Let's go," Elle said and we headed straight into the hallway leading to the training area.
The rectangular room was huge, covered in nothing but blacks and whites with benches on the sides, gym equipment, bath stations and a wide boxing ring. One door was open leading to an open mini arena where they all train for close combat fighting and firing. I couldn't help but be amazed of the place. It was a nice spot compared to what's inside the Haven Hall.
"This way, Peter." Hannah's voice echoed inside my brain.
I turned around to see her just in time for her to throw a blade disc on my face.
