"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."– Babe Ruth Hope You enjoy it! Please give me feedback and vote - Renee  "Let's get this shitshow on the road!" Beth yells from the front of the bus. We are all currently waiting for Jeremy to get his beach bag.  "Hold on!" I roll my eyes. I hear a ding come from my pocket.  Snapchat: Dillon I open the app tapping on Dillon's name.  Dillon- Hey, we are here at the Beach. Where are you? Madison- Yeah sorry Jeremy is taking literal years to find his bag. Dillon- Oh okay, text me when you're on your way. I close my phone getting frustrated. "I'm leaving you here Jerm," I say walking out to the jeep. Bethany and Sammy were all buckled by the time he came out. I swear. Boys! The engine comes alive and we start for the road. Ever since we started the trip we've been trying to get all the fifty states license plates. So far we have Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, South Dakota, and one from Ohio. I feel like we would've seen more but we didn't hit a lot of the big destinations. We wanted to stay sorta laid back during the trip and away from popular events.  I text Dillon we are on the way. Sammy turns up the music blasting "Everybody Talks". We all found songs we liked just for the trip. Thank you road trip Playlists! I found out that everybody talks Everybody talks, everybody talk  It started with a whisper And that was when I kissed her   Our voices c***k while throwing our hands up singing our hearts out. I look out towards the ocean. I see people surfing and sunbathing. I also saw on the brochure that they had this new smoothie shack open. My mind wanders back to Dillon. Imagine that guy with a shirt off. Butterflies immediately appear in my stomach.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You made it," Dillon says running up to me and my friends. His brother comes up behind him helping pull down the surfboards. "Yeah, thanks to Bethany and her crazy driving," Sammy says shaking Dillon's hand. We head to the spot and walk in awkward silents. I look out towards the ocean seeing kids splashing around. "Oh yeah, this is my brother Jackson," Dillon says setting the chairs up. I give a polite hi and so does everyone else. Except for Jeremy who can't stop eyeing him.  "Anyway, Dillon how old are you," Sammy says leaning back in her chair. I look towards him and give him a light smile. "I'm 19,"  Sammy gives me an exciting look and keeps with the questions. "So let's just make one thing clear," she says. "Your not a kidnapper, right." My eyes pop open with my mouth agape. "Sammy!" Dillon lets out a soft laugh "No," he says playfully.  Then a camera is shoved in my face. "Heres Madison being her cute little self," Bethany states her baby in her hand scoping the beach. "Today we are swimming and hopefully catch some awesome waves!" she says excitedly. Jeremy comes with his surfboard running to the beach. "Come on guys, let's go!"  We all start scurrying towards the beach. I spot the smooth shack I heard about and start walking there.  "Hey wait up." Dillon comes walking up beside me. Our hands brush briefly. Butterflies "So Madison, How old are you?" "I'm 18, Where you from," We sit down at a table for two and wait for menus. "Jackson and I are from Ohio. We just came here to see our father." I sit quietly listening to him talk about his dad. "So yeah, we just needed the money for my host-," He cuts himself short. "For what?" I question. "When did you guys start traveling,?" He shoots my question down. "Um, we started last month,"  "What could I get you guys," a waiter comes. "Can I have the blueberry and kale smoothie," Dillon says giving the menu back. "I would like the strawberry shortcake smoothie, please," The waiter leaves with our orders with leaves us in comfortable silence. "Your really pretty," Dillon says, his eyes moving all over my face. I feel my cheeks start to heat up and I shake my head. "Thank you but-," He cuts me off, "Let me just compliment you."  I look out at Jermey swimming around with Jackson. They seem pretty close and don't seem to plan on separating. Mhm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After finishing our smoothies we headed into the water. I grabbed my snorkel and saw a bunch of cool fish. Jeremy and Jackson were riding a bunch of waves and surprisingly caught on very well. Bethany and Sammy were sunbathing and talking about our next mission to the Grand Canyon.    "How long till you go back home?" I question Dillon. "I don't know if we're going back," He looks back at Jackson with a pleading look on his face. Jackson and Jermey come up and out of the water holding their boards. "Whatcha guys talking about," Jerm asking taking a seat next to me. "I was wondering when you guys were going back home," I say starting at Jackson and Dillon. "Hopefully soon once I figure out our living situation," Jackosn says looking at his brother reassuringly. "Well until then we have room in the RV," Jermey cuts in. "I mean if that's okay with you guys," He says facing the rest of the girls. "Yeah, sure whatever," Sammy and Beth say together. "You couldn't intrude but thank you for the option," Jackson states leaving no room for talking. "We would love to," Dillon says giving his brother a smug look. "Dillon shut u-"  "You shut up. We would really appreciate it," He says finishing the bicker. Jackson pushes himself away from the table and leaving out out the small shack door. "Sorry, he's been in a bad mood recently." We all decided that we should leave and head back home. "So you'll be joining the adventure," I say giving him a soft smile. "I guess so. Just until Jackson has to start dragging my ass away from you," He says brushing our hands against each other once again. "You don't seem mean or evil," I say under my breath. "I sure hope not." Dillon reaches for my hand as we walk back. "Hey pal but you guys just met last night," Sammy says replacing his hand with hers. I let out a giggle. I grab for her arm and we start skipping.  "We're off to see the Wizard" "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"  Bethany reaches for her camera and takes a few pictures of the sunset behind us. "And that guy is the beauty of the world," she says turning the camera so we are out of the shot. Sammy runs up and takes the camera from Beth's hands. "You b***h!" They start chasing each other back to the jeep. "I swear if you drop that. Samantha stops messing around," The breeze starts picking up causing my hair to fly all over my face. "Here gotcha," Dillon pulls my hair from my face as I pull some strands from my mouth. "Thanks. Oh my goodness!" My hair flies back into my face. "I should just cut it," I add jokingly. "Shut up you'd miss it," Bethany adds while she wipes the lens of her camera  "If you follow us we can get you back to the trailer park," Jermey buts in walking up with Jeremy. Mhm, interesting.  Once loaded up into our vehicles we drive home. The radio is down with the ocean waves as our music. I'm really gonna miss the ocean. But the rocky hills of Arizona should be fun. The happy sunny sign of the trailer park glows with the neon lights. When we go to Arizona I want to stay at a trailer park like in "RV" the movie with Robin Williams. My worst fear is that the bus rolls into a lake, which would not be good. "You know the movie RV, that stars Robin Williams," I say trying to spark conversation. "Oh yeah and that s**t geyser springs in the air," Jermey adds laughing. The car erupts with laughter as the night sky gets darker.  Sammy parks the jeep stepping out my feet on the gravel paved road. "So this is the one and only RV," Jackson says pushing Dillon ahead of him. "Yep and we have plenty of room for the two of you," Jermey adds walking up beside Jackson. Bethany, Sammy, and I all shared a knowing look. I think Jeremy's got a crush!  We all get ready for bed leaving the girls to do our nightly ritual. I took my shower washing my hair working the sand out of it. My hair was all the way down to my butt. It was a pretty caramel color that many guys find nice. yeah boys we see you staring. No hiding that from us.  Once back in the Rv, everybody is situated on the couch or table munching on food while watching- "Rv!" I yell sitting down next to Dillon leaning in closer than necessary. But then again he doesn't seem to mind.  After getting to the part where Robin Willams is sitting on the toilet with his computer I pull out Uno-Attack. My attention span only lasts so long.  Bethany shuffles the cards in her really fancy way. Like when it makes that weird sound when the cards it each other. My cards were okay with 3 yellows, 2 greens, and 2 reds. The color was freaking blue. I at least had a wilds card and a skipped player card.  "Haha gotcha Mads," Sammy says laying down a draw four. I give her my best scowl and tap the bottom. 1. 2. 3. 4- Pow 5 cards come shooting out. My friends laugh as I try to sneak a peek at Dillon's but he moves too fast for me to see. "Trying to cheat Mads," he says. My nickname coming from his lips sound amazing and can't wait to hear it more. "Of course not." I smile at him getting my game face back on.  Jeremy turns around and yells, "Holy s**t that's a lot of s**t!" The infamous poop geyser scene shows on the tv with all of it going into Robin's face. "Eww, just imagine the smell," Sammy says laying down a card. I play my turn skipping Dillon and turning the dispenser towards Jackson. "Well, Well I have one more card left," he says eyeing everyone around the table. I forgot what we were supposed to yell when someone was down to one card. Shoot! Jackson lays the card down and everyone yells, "UNO!", Oh right.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I grab my journal and write down today's events. Ever since the trip started I thought it would be a good idea to write down my thoughts and dreams. I even wrote down my bucket list.  "Hey roomie," Dillon says from above me. His body leaning over my bed so he's upsidedown. "s**t the blood rushing to my head," he says laughing. He gets down and sits next to me looking around my bunk.  I had hippie stickers on my walls and around the window. My sheets were light blue while my blankets were a fluffy silvery color. On the top of my bunk were those glow-in-the-dark star stickers. I got them from goodwill before we left.  "And I thought I was swag," he said jokingly. I felt a little embarrassed but at the same time felt reassured he didn't look at me like a kid. More like a woman.  "I'm really tired," I say laying my head on my pillow. "Okay goodnight," he says while letting go of my hand. Didn't even realize he held on to it. What a sneak!  "Before you go to bed," He says looking at me. "Thank you for letting us tag along." I smile at him reassuringly. "It was really no problem at all. You and your brother seem like pretty decent people," I say. "Damn, only decent," he says smirking. "Okay maybe good people," I say.  "Goodnight Dillon," I say before grabbing my curtain closed. "Goodnight guys," I say intending to let everyone know that I'm going to bed.  I get myself situated and close my eyes heading off into a dream world.  "Goodnight dad," I add before slipping into my slumber.
