She asked, "What happened?" as she found herself longing for the warmth of his hand, the touch of his thumb on her shoulder, and the heat that had begun to pool between her thighs. What did you say to them, exactly?
He appeared to be looking for something beyond the crowd as he cast a glance in all directions, including over her head. "From what I could see," the narrator said, "the elderly gentleman came up to you with the coins and allowed you to pick them up after he dropped them."
She went on to explain that he carried a walking stick with him. "I believed it would be simpler for me," the speaker said.
'Of course. You were expected to believe that in order to prevent you from pretending that the items were not yours or that you had no intention of buying them.
"But I was going to buy them," she said with a downcast expression. "I was about to when the police arrived," the sentence reads.
He replied curtly, "I know that too," while keeping his mouth tightly closed. Beyond the commotion of the crowd, he noticed a movement. While he was holding her elbow, he added, "Ah, here is my automobile." ‘Come.’
If she had seen his hand approaching and been informed of its approach, if his words had sounded more like an invitation than a command, then perhaps she would not have been so resistant. She could have been ready for either of those situations if they had occurred. There's a chance that she toughened up. But as he gave his command and took her arm with his strong and certain fingers, it was as if he were not only claiming possession, but also taking control of her, and she knew that if she got into that car with this man, her life would never be the same again. He seemed to be claiming both possession and control of her at the same time.
Then, something jolted deep within of her, a combination of heat and want as well as defiance and terror, and as her hands began to shake, the bag of bread fell from her grasp and onto the ground.
Because his feet halted, and he peered down at her, he must have felt that jolt travel through her even before she dropped the bread. He gazed at her with concern. "Are you okay?" is the question.
She had a hard time explaining to him why her lungs had been so constricted in her chest during the ordeal. She began by saying, "I..." as she looked for an alibi of some type. "I don't even know your name," the person said.
He c****d his head to one side. 'I apologise. It seems that the normal formalities have been neglected by us. Please refer to me as Nabil Adnan Yousiff. I am here to assist you.
She blinked, still shaken. "I have no talent for coming up with names." After making the admission, "I'm never going to remember that," she wished she had never spoken a word in the first place. Already, he had the impression that she was a clueless traveler. Why should she give him a cause to think of her even less?
But instead of giving her the reprimand she was anticipating, he gave her a small smile. It was the first time she had seen him smile. Shadowed planes shifted, angles found curves, and his dark eyes found a spark. Whereas previously he had merely been striking with his strong dark looks, now he crossed the line into truly dangerous. The beat in her heart skipped a beat.
There was good cause for her to feel terrified.
And despite that, she was relieved that he had tracked her down once more.
It is sufficient to use a regular Nabil. And who are you?'
‘Nicole. Just regular ordinary Nicole Pyne.
'Never plain,' he whispered in that lush, deep voice of his as he took her hand and, most likely along with it, the last vestige of resistance she had. "It is a joy to meet you," the greeting reads.
He got down on one knee in front of her and collected the bread, which had already partially poured out of its bag into the ground, covering it with sesame seeds, and drawing the attention of a dozen birds looking for an easy meal. He announced, "You cannot eat this now," before dumping the bread and bag into a neighboring garbage can, which caused the birds to flap their wings and squawk wildly in chase of the food. ‘Come. I will take you out to lunch after you have finished making your statement.'
And after lunch?
Would he take her somewhere exotic and fulfill the promise that she'd seen reflected in his eyes?
Or was she so shaken up by everything that had taken place that she was making up stories out of whole cloth?
She was putting him to the test when she told him, "You really don't need to do that." Because she had witnessed the tension in his face when she had admitted how close she had come to purchasing the coins. Even though he was required to take her to the police station, he might already be regretting the fact that he tried to help her in the first place. "I apologize for taking up so much of your time."
