Everything seemed peaceful, but a lot of things still did not make sense, and there was still the nagging reminder of my father’s words at the back of my head.
It was so easy for him to ask me to leave the woman I love to protect the pack, so easy for him to ask me to sacrifice my happiness for his.
He never gave Mia and me a chance from the beginning, perhaps he’s hit with nostalgia anytime she’s around him, reminding him of what happened with my mother.
I sat up from the bed and glanced at Mia’s beautiful sleeping form. I wished I could push away all the thoughts swirling in my head, and just hold her close and fall back to sleep.
