When I reach my class door I see Adam waiting for me and I smile. Adam is my best friend. He is absolutely in love with me. In the most platonic way seeing as he is batting for the other team too. His 21st birthday is 12 days after mine and he is so excited he is so sure it’s his crush that he has never spoken to. Despite my many attempts he is just too nervous to talk to Danny. He was however so jealous when I told him I could hear my mate early but the smile he had when I told him it was a SHE! You would have thought I handed the man a million dollars! “ You ready for our last day!! And for tonight?” He asks wiggling his eyebrows at me. I shove him away “Dont remind me! I know my moms doing it to show me her prospects for a male mate.” I say. He shakes his head. “I love Linda but she can be a lot sometimes I don’t know why she thinks you can just reject the mate bond that way! It could kill you or Jayce.” “Exactly! Apparently it’s a risk she’s willing to take” I huff. We sit in our regular seats and I prepare for class while Adam watches Danny with googly eyes. It’s a wonder Danny hasn’t caught on Adam is so obvious! He looks this way and Adam just about falls out of his seat. I laugh and wave to Danny telling him to come over but the professor walks in. Danny sits down right up front as normal he’s the TA. Adam shoves me so hard I might have fallen but I caught the end of the table and stifled a laugh. “You b***h!” He says eyeing me down. I put my hands up and smile surrendering. “Don’t be such a wuss Adam what do you have to lose? You find out in 13 days!” He just looks at me.

“Speaking of “ I hear him start and I look at him from the corner of my eye “Are you nervous for tonight? Come midnight she can smell you. I wonder how long it will take her to find you.” He asks all smiles now. “Quickly I hope!“ I laugh and wiggle my hips. “You naughty girl!! I can’t wait to see Linda’s face!” He says a little too loudly and the professor shushes us.

Once class ends we practically run for the door! “It’s dress time!!” Adam says in his singsong voice. We head to the shop and I try on my dress one more time. It’s rose gold and sparkly with spaghetti straps and two slits straight up to my thighs. I come out of the dressing room to show Adam and he whistles. “Jayce is going to go crazy over this dress! You look hot!” I go at the 3 full length mirrors and admire it. It is very sexy! It hugs everywhere just right and these slits put it right there over the edge. “Should I wear underwear?” I ask looking at the slits I’d have to wear a thong and raise the sides so they aren’t seen. “I think a thong would work just hitch it up” Adam replies basically reading my thoughts. I nod and gaze at myself again thinking of Jayce ripping it off of me. “Hey now!” I hear Adam clear his throat. “ I can smell your thoughts from here and we need to get it together woman!” I laugh and head to the dressing room to take it off. “I’m so nervous for the mating part” I confess to him. “Don’t be! I told you to learn a few skills with some one night stands!” He says and I glare at him. “ I couldn’t do that to her! Besides she said she will teach me… but I want to be good at it.” I hang my head. “ well I don’t know much about womens bodies but best advice that was given to me was try what they do to you on them. She will guide you if she needs anything different.” I think about that and think about what she will do to me or at least what I want her to do to me. “Hey! Come on before you ruin your underwear!” I blush and we head out dress in hand. Next stop is the cake and I’m dreading it. The cake shop is a few blocks from the house but is the furthest one of the options we have. My mom chose this one on purpose. I shake my head as we come close to the door. “I can’t do it. Will you go in for me?” I plead with Adam. He looks at me and shakes his head. “Really Lex? It’s been a year already I think he’s over it.” He says back. “I don’t think he’s over it he said and I quote ‘until it’s confirmed I’ll be waiting’ what if he was serious?” I ask him. “I’ll go with you but you aren’t hiding behind me. You get the cake I’ll get the candles. Meet at the register.” I glare at him. “Fine but know you are not my favorite!” I pout. “I think I’ll survive” he says rolling his eyes. I open the door and the chimes are so loud! Wills eyes immediately fall on me and he smiles. “LEXA!” He yells for me. I walk to him slowly only half smiling. “Hey Will how are you?” I ask trying to sound interested. “I’m great! Linda said you would be stopping by today I’ve been waiting all day! Special night tonight?” “Yeah” I reply shortly. “Moms throwing a little party for me to celebrate getting my wolf..” and mate I think to myself. “That’s nice! She invited me and my parents so I guess I’ll see you tonight let me just grab your cake.” He turns for the fridge. What the f**k I think to myself. Why would she invite my ex! She knows how heartbroken he was! Calling the house everyday and night for me. He just stopped doing that 6 months ago! Ugh! He hands me the cake just as Adam comes with the candles. “You are all set guys it’s been taken care of.” Will says and I take that as my leave. “Thanks Will” I wave with my free hand and bolt to the door dragging Adam behind me. We get outside and he starts laughing I’m talking hyena laughing! “What is your deal?” I ask annoyed. “You’re mom is diabolical!” He says laughing the whole rest of the way home.

I swing the door open and see my parents sitting at the table. My dad is sipping his coffee and my mother is no doubt checking off her to do list for tonight. She’s already dressed. “Did you get the cake?” She asks. “I did. I also spoke to Will not doubt apart of your plan. And apparently he was invited to the party tonight. Tell me mother how many other suitors will be here tonight?” I ask sarcastically. “You didn’t.” I hear my dad say. “I did. And I invited a number of people for tonight you are my only daughter Lexa. Of course tonight will be a big event.” She says nonchalantly. “Linda we discussed the guest list you weren’t going to meddle.” My dad says in a hush tone. He hates to fight with her. “I made a few adjustments as the date came closer.” I roll my eyes and head upstairs with Adam. “Get dressed Lexa the guests will be arriving at 9!” I hear my mother say. “Yeah yeah yeah” I mutter. “Don’t sweat it doll let’s get you looking spicy for your woman!” Only Adam can flip my mood so quickly. I smile and he swats me to the restroom. “ Hurry quick shower and blow dry and I’ll handle the rest. “ I do as he says and sit in my chair in front of the vanity while he unpacks his supplies. He starts at my hair giving me some loose curls all the way down to my hips. My hair has gotten so long these last few years. We keep the make up light some eyelashes and liner with a soft gloss. The dress really does the rest. I put it on and pair it with the necklace my dad gave me and a bracelet. Grabbed my heels and I was ready. Adam looked handsome as ever in his navy blue tux it hugged him so well after the tailor did some magic. He wore his diamond studs and also wore some heels got to say he worked them heels better than I did. We made our way downstairs and my mother eyed his heels but didn’t say anything. My father looked at both of us “well aren’t you both beautiful. You are all grown up” he says and his eyes are glossy. I reach for him “Dad! Don’t do that if you cry I’ll cry and we can’t start that now.” I smile up at him. He pats my back and the door opens. It’s Ethan on time surprisingly. He looks defeated but he wears a smile. “Happy almost birthday Lexa!” He says coming in for a hug. “Thank you Ethan.” I squeeze him a little and he gives me a knowing look. I make my way outside to see everything before the guests arrive. It’s beautiful out here. There’s twinkling lights hung from the main house to the pool house zigzagged all the way through and up the trees at the entrance. She’s got the music set up with a dj on a platform and there’s tables and chairs along the side of the dance floor covered in rose gold colored silk table clothes and mesh runners. There’s white roses and balloons everywhere. It’s like a dream. Guests start arriving right on time and I greet family members and the suitors are rolling in. None hold a candle to Jayce even though I’ve never seen her… the night goes on with dancing and laughs I’m actually enjoying myself when I look at the time it’s 1130 I’m starting to get nervous so I seek out Adam but low and behold he’s hiding in a corner making out with Danny! I can’t interrupt that it was just too perfect. Just then my mother finds me and introduces me to one of the neighboring packs alphas. He’s single and looking for a chosen mate since he has yet to find his destined one. I roll my eyes. “Shouldn’t we start the cake mother it’s nearly midnight” I ask sweetly. She scowls at me “Oh the cake! Yes let’s begin.” She guides me to the center of the dance floor where my cake is lit up and sparkling. I knew Adam would get those sparkler candles. Everyone starts singing the happy birthday song and I’m just smiling looking around I see Adam and Danny finally broke away from each other and I wink at Adam. Once they finish I blow out the candles. Had to do it a few times the damn sparklers wouldn’t stay off. I stood upright and thanked everyone for coming and having a good time.
