I have no idea how Ash managed to take me home but I know for sure that my head was upon the clouds. My uncle was hurt and hiding somewhere that I don’t know if it’s safe, but he doesn't want me to look for him.

He told me things that I found really disturbing, he left me many questions in my head that I needed to find answers for myself.

How on earth did we manage to talk to each other? Is that what a dream link is? I have so many questions in mind that I didn't hear Ash was calling out to me until he nudges my shoulders.

"Nyx...I know you're going through something, but I need to know what you saw, you saw something didn’t you?" he calmly asked, so I looked at him. He looks so serious like he’s worried about something.

“H-How did you know about that?” I asked, so he just sighed like he’s trying to find the right words he must need to say.

“I know it’s weird, but I just know for sure that you saw something or dreamt about something on the way you acted earlier,” he claimed, so I just nodded. That makes sense, I guess…

“I-It’s about my uncle, we talked and he said many things that I really don’t get or understand… and he’s in danger, he told me not to look for him because it’s dangerous,” I mumbled, which made him nod.

“And after our talk…I saw something, Uncle was hurt by a man in black cloak…would you believe me that I saw something like that in our school earlier?” I added, which made his body stiff like he has heard a piece of very disturbing news.

“Wait, you saw one at our school earlier?” he asked like he’s really worried to hear about what I said, so I just nodded.

“Why didn’t you tell me about this sooner?” he asked again like he was trying to control his anger? Why is he angry?

“W-Why are you angry at me? I didn’t know if what I saw was really true, it was just for a very brief second,” I firmly said, which made him sigh like he’s trying to control his emotions.

“Please next time tell me if you encounter that kind of stuff again, I’m worried about you okay? You’ve been in a mess ever since your Uncle was kidnapped,” he said sincerely, so I just nodded.

“I see…W-What should we do Ash? He’s in danger, I want to look for him but I also want to follow his advice. Do you think that it’s just a nightmare because I was so worried about him?” I asked, but he immediately shook his head.

“If he told you that it’s a dream link then all of what he said was true…only you guys can do that and it’s a very special gift,” he added before giving me a glass of water, so I gladly accepted it.

“W-Why…why can we only do that?” I asked, so he paused for a while before answering me again.

“Only you can find that out if you remember Nyx,” he firmly said, which made me really confused. There’s this stinging pain that can be felt on the bottom part of my head, I touched it and breathed heavily.

“W-What do you mean about that?” I mumbled, but he just sighed as he grabs a hold of my hand, squeezing it tightly like he’s afraid of losing me or something.

“Don’t think about that for now, I want you to rest,” he ordered, I was about to complain when he left to get some foods on our fridge, he came back with freshly frozen bacon and two raw eggs while handing it to me.

“U-Uh…what am I going to do with this?” I asked raising what he has given to me. It feels so cold in my hands.

“Food, you need to eat that to gain your strength, here’s your plate,” he mumbled innocently while looking at me intently which made me laugh.

He looks so stunned right after seeing me laugh, it was like he has seen some ghost or something.

“I can’t eat this, these are raw you need to cook this first before eating it,” I told him while chuckling, oh boy that was really funny. Here I thought he was adapting pretty well in our world. For a brief moment, I forgot everything that is currently clouding my mind. Thanks to him.

“I-I see, I’m sorry,” he said like he was really embarrassed, so I just shook my head. He just wants to make me feel okay and I really appreciate that.

“Thank you but I’m fine, I can cook our dinner, and let’s talk I have lots of questions for you,” I stated, I was about to stand up when our front door exploded. I screamed and flew because of the impact, the fire was starting to touch my skin, but Ash immediately caught my waist and cast his barrier to protect us both as he hugged me intently from the incoming impact.

His barrier disappeared when everything became silent, he faced me with worry etched into his eyes, “Are you okay?!” he anxiously asked, so I just nodded as I stared at our destroyed home. The front door was wide open, our furniture near the living room was destroyed, some of our windows were broken.

Ash stood up and was currently searching the house from the outside, our living room, and upstairs. My senses alarmed me that Ash and I aren’t alone anymore.

And I was right, there are two men in black cloaks right in front of our destroyed front. I firmly stand on my ground and positioned myself.

“W-Who are you and did you do this to our house?” I asked and those two weird men remained searching the house like they didn’t notice me. What the hell? I was about to punch the other guy when Ash appeared, stopping my fist from getting closer to that guy while motioning his one finger on his lips.

Did he make us invisible? How did he able to do that?!

“You’re lying, there’s no sign of them,” the other one said while throwing and kicking the stones that blocked his way.

“That can’t be right, I saw someone entered this house…” the other man said while he’s checking upstairs.

“Tss, come one let’s go and report back or someone might see us here, that Kenneth wouldn’t be stupid enough to risk going back here when we’re looking for his niece,” the other man commented which made me flinched, they’re looking for me? Did I hear that right?

After they checked and left the house, we waited ten minutes more before I looked at Ash. He looks like he’s checking if we're really finally alone.

“How did you make us both invisible?!” I almost screamed, which surprised him while shaking his head.

“It wasn’t me! I swear, but I think it came from your necklace, didn’t you notice? It was glowing when I found you downstairs,” he said, which made me clutch my necklace while taking it out of my shirt.

It was glowing, but the light disappeared right after I took it out. What kind of necklace is this? I don’t understand…is this why uncle wanted me to have this? Even my mom?

“W-Why would they do this? Who are they? Why would someone kidnap Uncle and do this to our home? Why are they looking for me?” I cried, so Ash immediately ran towards to hug me.

“I-I don’t know for sure Nyx but one thing is for sure…we can’t stay here anymore…it’s very dangerous for you,” he muttered, which made me stop and broke his hug to me.

“B-But what if my Uncle comes back and finds out that was gone? I can’t leave Ash, we can report to the Leaders of the District about what has happened here,” I pleaded, which made him shook his head.

“No, we can’t report this and he will not come back here Nyx,” he said like he was really sure that would happen.

“B-But how can you be so sur—”

“We can’t stay here anymore Nyx, your house was attacked probably because of those people who kidnapped your Uncle…trust me about this please we really can’t stay here any longer or else,” he cut me off. I really understand what he meant about what he was suggesting, but I just really can’t leave this house besides where do we even stay for tonight?

“Where are we going to stay tonight then? I’m sorry, but I don’t know people much here in our village, my Uncle and I always just stay at home,” I mumbled, so he dazed for a moment before answering me.

“Draconis University has dormitories, do you want to go and stay there for a while just until we could figure something out? I’ve heard from Draven that they’re staying over there,” he muttered, which made me sigh, I have no other choice then.

“O-Okay…I-I’ll just pack our clothes and things,” I said before leaving to go upstairs towards my bedroom. I went to get my big bags and started packing some clothes, underwear, and some hygiene kits. I don’t have that much important stuff other than my clothes and reference books.

I went into my Uncle’s bedroom to pack some clothes that might fit Ash, I’ll just ask him to go with me to the market tomorrow after all it’s our rest day from school.

I was about to get out of his room when I noticed his brown sling bag again on his bed, there’s something inside me that urges me to bring it with me so I took it and some important stuff that Uncle Ken might look for if we ever saw him again.

I locked his bedroom and mine, I gripped the two big bags that I was carrying, the sling bag is currently clinging around my body. Ash appeared and stole the two big bags that I was carrying.

“Hey, are you done? Our ride is waiting downstairs and the coast is clear,” he asked, so I just nodded and didn’t argue with him about the bags since I was too exhausted for everything that is currently happening.

I went outside only to see that two small dragon rides are patiently waiting for us. Ash was placing our bags to the other dragon. When he’s finally done, he invited me to sit with the other dragon.

“Are you ready?” he asked on my back right after I grip my hands to the handle of the saddle.

I nodded and right after he whistled, the dragons roared and flapped their wings and the next thing I knew is were up in the vast night sky. I shivered when I felt the howling cold breeze of the wind touched our bare skins.

My worries disappeared right after I saw the shining stars that almost looked like they were waving at me, the moon is full and bright…the night patrol dragons were flying in different directions in the sky.

“Nyx, are you okay?” Ash asked from my behind, so I looked at him while shaking my head.

“I’m not, but I have to be strong…” I firmly said, which made him sigh before tugging my long bangs to my right ear.

“Nyx, remember you’re not alone anymore…whatever it is that you have to do, tell me and I’ll gladly help you as long as it prioritizes your safety,” he sincerely said while smiling, which made me stare at him for a while, that smile…it looks so familiar like I’ve seen it before.

“Oh, we’re here,” after Ash said that, I immediately glance in front of the University only to see that Draven and Kathy look like they were waiting for us.

“NYX!!! ARE YOU OKAY?! ARE YOU—” Kathy stopped shouting when Draven put his hands on her mouth, she’s muttering words that we can’t quite decipher.

“Would you calm down Kath? At least let them get down on the dragon first,” Draven scolded, which made Kathy glare at him before shoving his hands away and ran towards to hug me.

“H-Hey…how did you know that we’re coming in here tonight?” I curiously asked, so she just pointed to Draven and Ash who are currently talking to each other.

“Human dragons can mind link with each other and Draven filled me in on what happened earlier and why you’re both here, so tell me are you okay?” she asked worriedly, so I just nodded. I don’t want to worry anyone.

“Don’t worry about it, I’ll be fine plus I get to stay with you,” I said, which made her raise her eyebrows.

“But you’re not going to stay with me though! Our rooms are neighbors, but Ash and you will be staying in one room!” she said, which made my eyes widened.

“W-What? Aren’t the dorms of girls and boys are separated?” I nervously asked, which made her shook her head.

“Mates should be staying in one room together,” she firmly said, which made me sigh in disbelief. I guess I don’t really have a choice now.

“Hey, girls, let’s go to your rooms,” Draven called, so we glance at them and they’re both carrying our bags.

“Let’s talk about the incident later okay? Let’s get you settled in first,” after Kathy said that, I nodded as she dragged me along inside the University.
