The service dragon slowly flapped its wings and gently landed right in front of the University, Ash thanked it before walking straight inside with me. After we have reached the campus, eyes were glancing at our way probably because of him.

Many mortals, human dragons, girls, and boys swooned at the sight of him because he’s drop-dead gorgeous, I increased my pace in order to put some distance between us before lowering my head. I hope they won’t notice me.

“Hey, there handsome! Are you new?” some girls asked from my behind and I just kept on walking.

“Yeah I am handsome, but my name is not new!” I heard him uttered it happily like a child and swarms of girls started to gather up into his place to ask him some basic questions, I just focused on getting myself to our class because I don’t want to be late.

A strange pain was being felt inside of my chest right after I have seated on my chair, he must have seen many beautiful mortals or human dragons, so he had already forgotten about me.

I can’t believe that he’s just the same like anyone else inside this University…I thought he was different, I thought he was my mate. I just sighed and was astounded when I saw Hanna’s group right in front of me again. Their mischievous glares and sinister smiles made me realize that I was in big trouble again.

Oh crap…I went to school very early today because of the dragon ride, so they have time to pull many pranks on me again.

“She’s early! Yay!” Mateo commented Hanna’s human dragon mate part of the Emerald District the poisonous dragons. She just eyed me intently while bringing out some sticky liquid glue and bright colored canned paints.

“Hey did you guys heard? There’s a handsome human dragon outside of the campus,” some of her friends commented and I know for sure they're pertaining about Ash. Hanna eyed me like she’s curious about my reaction about it.

“What should we do?” Hanna’s friends asked, so she just laughed while taking out some big paintbrush.

“We can practice some of our art skills on her, but in order for this to be much more fun, Hailey must need to be noticed by that new guy so let’s give her a makeover!” after Hanna said that, they cheered and started to open the paint cans and glue. I can’t believe that I was starting to think of how to get rid of those paint to me instead of stopping them.

I bit my lips bitterly when I inhaled the disturbing smell of paint on my uniform, it felt cold and icky when some of them started to paint it on my arms and skirt. I looked at them and they look like they’re having so much fun doing this to other people.

Some of our classmates didn’t bother to stop them, but just watched and laughed with them as they do this with me. I lowered my head stopping myself from the verge of crying, I was used to this but why do I feel so hurt right now? I’m alone in this world and I have to accept it as early as I can.

“Oh! Look at her she looks so nice! She might even attract that handsome human dragon!” they commented sarcastically as they laughed.

On my peripheral view, I saw that some of them were starting to paint on my face when the paint cans started burn on fire, Hanna’s friends screamed and started to panic. I was astounded upon seeing Ash right in front of me with worry etched upon his silver glowing eyes.

“Hailey…” he muttered, I immediately avoided his gaze and lowered my head as he tries to kneel to catch my eyes, but I still avoided him. I don’t want him to see how pathetic I am as a Mortal. I was astounded when he stood up and grabbed the hem of Hanna’s blouse like it doesn’t matter to him what her gender was.

“Did you do this to her? Wait scratch that, are you always doing this to her?” he asked darkly, which made me feel some chills for a moment, dang this isn’t his usual voice. He sounds so damn serious right now like he’s ready to kill someone.

“W-Why do you care?! L-Let go of me! Mateo!” Hanna shouted, which made some of them back off like they’re scared.

“Hey! How dare you?! Don’t touch her!” I heard Mateo shouted like he’s really angry and was about to grab his arms when Ash shoved him away easily with force and some of them screamed when Mateo's body flew and was slammed through the thick hard walls and lost consciousness.

“You don’t know me, who are you to order me?” he sneered in a deep serious voice while looking at Hanna who’s just struggling against his harsh gestures.

“W-Why are you doing this! Why are you protecting that weak mortal?!” Hanna shouted, which made me stop, she’s just making everything worst. Ash gripped her hem even more tightly making it harder for her to breathe.

“Don’t ever touch her again and most especially don’t call my mate weak!” he shouted, his voice was shaking like was about to lose his cool, some of the people murmured and gasp after hearing those words, some of them even whispered to call the professors to stop it so I stood up and stopped him.

“H-Hey…stop…it’s alright,” I called, but he didn’t even look at me. His eyes were just glaring at Hanna and some of her friends who are currently shivering in fear, his silver eyes were glowing intensely like he’s ready to hurt someone.

“Ash! Look at me!” I shouted and immediately, he looked at me like he’s so happy that I called his name. I shook my head and grab his hands to drag him away from there.

After running away from our room, I stopped from my locker and I’m so glad that the students weren’t as many like earlier ago. Classes must be starting by now, I immediately grabbed my things, some potions, and an effective tinner to remove the paint stains from my hands.

“Are they always doing this to you?” he asked, so I stopped on my tracks and faced him like I was embarrassed that he’s seeing me like this.

“I-I’m fine…don’t worry about it, I’m used to it,” I muttered while sighing deeply and he looks like he’s not convinced that I’m fine.

“Why are you letting them do this to you Nyx?” he asked worriedly, so I just shrugged. I really don’t want this conversation right now.

“Because if I do defend myself, they will just make everything worst I’ve tried it before and I gave up and just let them do this to me,” I argued and started to walk away from him. I flinched when he snatched my hands which made me look up to him.

“Why aren’t you fighting? I know you can if you did, they’ll leave you away,” he asked his head was low like he doesn’t want to meet my gaze, I sighed and slowly shoved his hands away.

“Like I told you…what’s the point? What’s the point of defending myself if I’m all alone? If I fight, they’ll come back as a group to get back right at me it’ll be worst,” I explained, which made him stop. I was about to walk away again to shower when he pulled my hands towards him and gave me a tight hug.

His warmth enveloped my whole body which comforted me in an instant, the sparks ignited like he's waking up every nerves on my insides, but I was covered with paint!

“A-Ash…you’re uniform, it’ll be stained with the wet paints,” I said alarming him, but he just hugged me even more tightly making it hard for me to breathe.

“Ash…” I warned, so he just sighed still hugging me intently between the wide quiet hallways.

“You’re hurting me so much Nyx…you’re not alone anymore, I’m here now with you and if you keep on saying that then I’ll just be a useless mate,” he mumbled, which made me flinch as he broke his hug to me and faced me.

His silver eyes were so full of emotions like he’s really hurt and was about to cry…I remembered how scary his voice was back there in our room, it’s the first time that someone defended me.

“I-I’m sorry…I just don’t know how this relationship works yet between us…but,” I gulped as I felt my cheeks were starting to heat up trying to find the right words I must need to say before I hurt him even more, “T-Thank you…for earlier Ash,” I muttered, which made him stop for a moment and I felt relieved after seeing his usual childish smile.

“Don’t worry we have lots of time, I’ll teach you how everything works in our bond and thank you for finally saying my name it means a lot to me Nyx,” he replied, which made me uneasy for a moment because I’m not used to these kind of conversation, I don’t know how to respond to him honestly yet.

“I-I’ll just take a bath okay? I’ll be back but you can take our class now I believe it’s starting already,” I said, but he just shook his head and sat on the bench near the comfort room.

“No, I’ll be waiting for you…let’s go to class together,” after he said those words, he smiled and lay down on the bench, I felt the corners of my lips lift up for a genuine smile before taking a bath on the shower rooms.

After I took a bath, I sighed in relief when I easily got rid of the wet paint stains on my body. I wore my extra uniform before stepping outside. When he immediately appeared right in front of me, I gasped and almost lost my balance so he grabbed my waist.

“Careful Nyx…are you done?” he asked like he’s worried, so I slowly pushed him away from me and nodded.

“A-Are you trying to give me a heart attack? D-Don’t sneak up like that right in front of me next time, is that understood?” I ordered, so he just smiled like he’s back with his usual self again.

“Understood!” he muttered on a high-pitched voice while saluting which made me shook my head. He’s a really odd human dragon mate.

We walked through our class side by side and I can’t seem to remove my uneasiness from how will I face them after that incident a while ago. I will be the talk of the class again.

“Don’t worry, I took care of the matter that has happened a while ago,” he muttered on my side like he has read what’s going on my mind right now. I peeked through my peripheral view and I can see how tall he was from my side, if he’s in front of me I bet he can tower over my personal if he leaned.

I sighed when were almost at the entryway of our room, I lowered my gaze and seated immediately on my chair. Luckily, I always choose to sit near the door so I bet no one noticed that I came in.

“Are you okay now Ms. Jaden?” I flinched when I was called by my professor, I slowly eyed him and just nodded reluctantly. He noticed me? He knew what happened? Am I going to be expelled? My whole system was still panicking when he talked again.

“I’m sorry about what happened to you we’ll make sure no one does this again and if anyone of you does this again not just to her but to anyone, survival detention for life!” my professor shouted at the whole class which made my eyes widened, he defended me? I looked at Ash and he’s already seating right next to me while winking.

I sighed in relief so this was he meant he took care of…I have to thank him later on. This means a lot to me.

“Before we continue, would you care to introduce yourself Mr.?” my professor asked Ash, so he just nodded happily. I heard some of them were whispering that they’re really scared of him. I wonder what happened when I was taking a bath?

Before I even realized Ash was already in front of the whole class and smiled, “Hey everyone, I’m Ash Flynn Lux, a human dragon from the Ruby District,” he paused for a while and walked towards my chair.

I almost screamed when he dragged me right in front of them all and placed his arms around my shoulders.

“W-What are you do—” he cut me off when he talked again.

“And this is Hailey Nyx Jaden, my precious gorgeous mate…if you talk about her against her back, touch her without her consent or hurt her, will answer to me,” he muttered darkly before grabbing my arms tightly like he’s controlling himself, but he just smiled and gestured us to seat.
