Chapter 2

It felt likes hour had passed as I drove on the road. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going, just that it was away from here. The pain and anger had blindsided me for a while, I was likely in no state to drive, but that thought didn't occur to me until much later. After a while, I started to see city lights. I finally slowed down the car, pulling into the first parking lot I saw and turning off the car. Although I was still full of hurt and anger, I took a few deep breaths before grabbing my phone. It seemed a few hours had passed and it was nearly eleven. Glancing through my phone I noticed several missed calls from my parents and boyfriend, (exboyfriend), and one from ny sister, Emily. I ignored all of them as well as the few text messages and dialed one of my friends, Courtney. The phone rang almost all the way through before she picked up. "Hey, girl! Happy Thanksgiving!" A small laugh escaped my lips before a fresh wave of tears floated down my face, "It's not." I choked out. Courtney immediately dropped her cheery mood, worried. "What's wrong, Oli?" "Joe's in love with Emily." A few seconds of silence passed between them before Courtney asked a question, seemingly totally confused. "Your sister?" I nodded at first before realizing she couldn't see me. "Yeah." "That's so messed up! Where are you? We need to go out." I glanced around a bit, not entirely sure where I was, but after a few seconds I recognized a sign. I was just a city over from home. Or what was home before, I will be moving out soon. Away from Joe. "I'm by Aegean Oasis." It was a bar I heard a lot about, but had never visited. I usually only drank at big events, after all. But today seemed like a pretty big event. "Are they open?" Courtney asked, shuffling sounds coming from her end of the phone." "I don't know, let me see." I set the phone on speaker before turning the car back on and pulling back onto the road. A few minutes later I was in their parking lot, noting there were a lot of cars."I think so." I squinted at the sign on the door, turning the phone off speaker to get out of the car. "Okay girl, I want you to go inside and clear your face. I'll be there in fifteen minutes to give you a makeover and then we're going to have the night of our lives and forget all about that cheating scumbag and sister of yours, okay?" I gave a little laugh, trying to will back the tears that wanted to start again. "Yeah, okay." I saw lights flashing inside and made my way towards the door. "See you soon." Courtney hung up the phone and I put it in my pocket, looking for the bathroom. I looked around the inside, noting that it was pretty full. There was a large section of the floor cleared for dancing (although cleared was debatable as it was body to body with people), several filled tables, a stage where it seemed they occasionally had a live band (but today was filled with people chatting), and a circular bar counter. I looked around the room for a while before finding the bathrooms and ducking inside. As promised, fifteen minutes later Courtney entered the bathroom. She had two bags with her, tossing the larger one at me. "Get changed, then I'll do your makeup." I nodded and slipped into a stall, changing clothes quickly and putting my current ones back in the bag she had given me. She had brought me a sequin gold dress. It wasn't normally my style, but the skirt was a lot more flow and a dark brown belt accentuated the middle making it not terrible. I changed my shoes into the black heels she had given me before stepping from the stall. Courtney looked me up and down in approval before tugging me closer and starting on my makeup. I let her dress me up however made her happy, just wanting to forget about everything tonight. She brushed through my hair, applying some spray and tying the front back before nodding in approval. "You look hot. Let me run these out to my car and then we can go party!" She grabs the bags and quickly heads from the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror, happy to see you couldn't even tell how upset I had been just minutes ago. I then follow her out to the bar. "Grab a table, Oli! I'll be back in a minute." She dashes out before I could stop her. I felt really self conscious at this bar, but I swallowed down the nerves and moved towards the counter. There were only a couple seats open, and I snagged the last pair right as I saw a couple walk in the doors. "Wow," The guy I sat next to said, looking me up and down, "You're sexy." he smirks. I feel my face flush a bit, feeling a bit embarrassed by the sudden attention. Turning my gaze to him, though, I smiled. "Thank you," my eyes scan over his flawless face, his sandy blonde hair having a stylishly mess look to it. His eyes were a mesmerizing blue. "You're hot, too." I say without thinking, suddenly feeling mortified with myself. Was I flirting with a stranger? Only a few hours out of a relationship? Luckily, he just laughed. "I get that a lot," he winks at me before holding out his hand. "I'm Apollo." The way he laughed drew me to him. I take his hand, ready to shake it. "Olivia," I introduce myself. "Can I buy you a drink?" He offers, sliding a menu of their specialty drinks towards me. I reluctantly pull my eyes from him, looking down at the menu. "Maybe," I feel myself playing coy, a little smirk forming on my lips. His enchanting laugh leaves his lips again, drawing my eyes back towards him. "Feisty, are we?" He places a hand lightly on my thigh, but I find it doesn't bother me. "That's okay, I like a girl with a little spirit." He gives a wink in a way that would make me cringe if it were anyone else. But when he does it? I feel even more drawn to him. I don't say anything in response to that, dropping my eyes to the menu again, flipping it open. Looking down the list of specialty drinks, I stop at one. "This drink has your name," my eyes move up to his, suddenly noticing that his gaze never left me the entire time I was reading the menu. He smirks, nodding. "It's my drink, beautiful. Of course it has my name." Although normally I would roll my eyes at the arrogance of that comment, the tone in which he said it was charming. "I'll take an Apollo, then." He nods, raising his hand from my thigh to flag down the bartender, "Two Apollo's." he requests, and just as the bartender slips away to make them, I hear Courtney sit down in the chair next to me. "Seems you're making friends without me," She teases, elbowing me lightly before waving and giving a cute little smile. "I'm Courtney." He glances over, throwing a dashing smile her way. "Apollo, pleasure to meet you." Courtney tilts her head slightly, "Like the god?" He flashes her two little finger guns, "I am the god," I decided then that he must have been playing around, just getting into the theme of the bar. It wasn't until later that I realized he wasn't joking.
