It’s been two hours since the doctors have taken Venny to the operating room.
Venny’s dad Pilo sits next to a crying Bella and holds her hand. The man looks thin and frail just to keep his son alive, and he’s having a hard time keeping it together like the rest of us are.
Evan and Jonah leave to get some snacks and drinks for everyone. Mom takes Evan’s seat and hugs me tightly.
“Mom, if I lose Venny...”
“Shh. You can’t think that way Levi, Venny wouldn’t want you to think that way.”
She’s probably right, I mean even in my dream he wanted me to be hopeful. I wonder if that was his way of trying to communicate with me.
“Okay. I need to call Monica and ask how Bayley is doing.” I tell her as I pull my phone out of my pocket. Monica answers on the first ring.
