CHAPTER SIXTEEN Through Cyrus's rat eyes, distant shapes took form in the pear-colored world. He made out swaying, shadowed columns, but he couldn’t be sure of what they were. “It's all right,” Murgalen said. “My ask is simple. Do this one thing for me and I will send you home so that you can be human again.” Cyrus floated, sniffing. He couldn't believe the words. He was a rat. Had he fainted when she told him?
