When the Fate Changes

Chapter 5

DYLAN

She immediately answers my call.

"Hello? Who is this?" she asked.

"It's me, Dr. Hillary. I failed and I don't know whom I will ask for help. I can't find my girlfriend and my best friend is also gone." I said. It suddenly rain but I don't care. I waited for her to talk but I can't hear any sound.

"Hello?" I said.

"Where are you? Let's meet at the hospital, I'll wait for you there" she just said and ends the call. I don't know if there will still a cab in this night time but I still wait. It’s almost 15 minutes but I'm still standing and waiting.

I keep asking myself who will do this to me and Rain and what we did wrong. I don't even really know Rain but I think he is cold and don't really care to other people. I don't think that he will get his self into trouble. A cab suddenly stopped at last and I quickly go inside.

"Can you take me to South Main Hospital? I'll pay you double, sir." I ask the driver.

"But it's too far" he said.

"It’s... an emergency, I'm a doctor there can you help me just once?" I begged.

He sighed and just nod at me. After almost past 1 hour I already came. It’s still raining and I can't clearly see everything around me. I try to find Dr. Hillary but I can't see her.

I suddenly did not feel the raindrops but I still see the rain pouring heavily. I look up and see an umbrella above me. I turn around and saw Dr. Hillary standing.

"Sorry, I'm late. Did you wait for too long?" I asked.

"I'm already here hour ago, my house is just near the hospital so I just walk. " she waited hour ago but she didn't leave and stay even though it rains so heavy.

"The rain is so heavy and it’s too cold. I think we better go now" she said and I just nod. I follow her steps because I'm not familiar in this place even though this is not the first time I go in this place.

She opened her small gate and I see that her house is not that big but it’s still have second floor and a mini rooftop.

As we go inside the house, she just throws a towel on me and gives me another set of clothes.

"You owe me 2 for the clothes" she said.

"But, this is more than owing something... You said you don't talk to strangers but you let a stranger go into your house, are you okay with it?" I asked.

"of course I'm not okay with it. But, it’s not you that I'm worried about... Sleep in the sofa and don't go upstairs, okay?" she said and go upstairs. I know she's tired because of work but she still manage to help me or Dr. Rain.

After I take a bath I lay in the sofa and just there looking at the ceiling. I want to run again but I know that is not a solution for my problem. I hope after I wake up, I am already in my body so I can be able to find Tammy. I still want to continue our marriage next week and I'll do everything to make it happen.

The next day, the moment I woke up I was still not in my body. Dr. Hillary wakes me up early because she said we need to go to work. I don't know how the doctors work because I'm a lawyer and not in the field of medical. She explained that I don't need to work and I just need to stay in my office.

She goes to work first and I waited for 10 minutes before I go to the hospital. They don't need to know that I sleep in her house because it might build a big issue between her and Dr. Rain.

She still waited for me inside the hospital and gave a paper to me.

"This is the paper that you ask to me, Dr. Rain" she said. I got confused, I don't know how to answer in this act she did.

"You don't need to answer" she whisper. I nod after she say that and get the paper she was giving. I went straight to the office. I'm not sure if I can still remember the directions she explains to me earlier.

I get to the office and see Nurse Ellie and another nurse boy inside.

"Good morning, Doctor Rain" they both greeted. I just nod and sit on the table with the name Dr. Rain has. I just sit there and don't know what I need to do. I looked at the paper Dr. Hillary gave me and read it.

It’s not an ordinary paper because this is a handwritten paper. I just saw an address and a name on the paper. I look at the bottom and see Dr. Hillary's note.

I can't get the contact number of the old man but I just get his address instead. I'll explain to you later -Hill

I smiled. She is really a clever and cool doctor I've ever met.

"Dr. Rain!" a familiar voice shouted. I suddenly stand up when I know that they are my parents looking so angry.

My father walks towards me quickly and just punched my face.

The nurse boy blocks my father so that he can't get closer to me. I don't understand why he's getting so angry.

"You're the last person with my son that day. But, how come you're here and he can't be seen everywhere. How are you going to explain this? Are you the one who kidn*pped my son? This may be a set-up" I can't answer my mother's question. They’re both angry at me. I don't even defend myself.

"Why you're not answering? Is it true?" my father asked.

"It’s not true!" Dr. Hillary shouted "I don't know where you got that information about Dr. Rain being the mastermind of a kidn*pped incident. Yesterday, someone saw him in the road and bring him here. This is the paper that can proved he just discharged yesterday at noon. He is also a victim and you don't have evidence to bring ma'am and sir"

We all just stay quiet.

"We're sorry, doctor... Let's just go" my mother pulling my father outside.

"Nurse Ellie and Nurse Morgan can you go outside for a bit, I just need to talk to Dr. Rain... Also, make sure that this issue will not become bigger" Dr. Hillary said. The two nurses leave the office and closed the door.

"Thank you... again" I said. She put an ointment to the table.

"Put that in your wound before it gets worse." she said.

"Actually, I'm a lawyer but in front of my parents I can't talk and defend myself"

"They are your parents?" I know she was shocked and I just nod at her "its okay, Dr. Rain, don't also defend himself and just stay quiet when he gets in trouble."

She smiled at me and makes thumbs- up before she go out. Now, it became harder to tell the truth on my family.

As time goes by, this miserable life I have right now just become harder and harder.
