Damien's Pov.
I only had to wait for half an hour. I knew I could not leave while Persephone was awake and if there be anything that I am truly grateful to that stupid pet show for, it is how easily it lulls her to sleep. I will use that to my advantage tonight.
I do not even have it in me to feel guilty for what I am about to do because it needs to be done. It could not be avoided. I waited patiently until Persephone was asleep, although it took a while because she kept fighting it, cuddling closer to me on the couch anytime she wakes up, only to fall back asleep. I am certain now though, that she is fast asleep. The rhythm of the rise and fall of her chest against mine is relaxed and her shallow warm breaths fan my neck, where her face rests.
I took a few more minutes to just admire
