Safy trumpeted sharply and charged straight into the river. She hadn’t expected the water to be so deep—it nearly reached her shoulders. Standing firm, she sucked in a trunkful of river water and blasted it at the pack of hyenas. The hyenas stumbled back a few paces, startled but still glaring hungrily from the bank.
