The two of them followed the massive black bear, astonished by how nimble the hulking creature could be.
"Is this bear some kind of supernatural creature? It's so fast!" Lily panted, struggling to keep up.
Kayla glanced back as she ran, but her foot caught on an exposed branch, sending her sprawling to the ground.
"Ah..." Kayla gasped, feeling utterly drained.
"Hurry, get up!" Sheree urged, gripping Kayla's arm to pull her up.
Kayla tried to stand, but each attempt sent a sharp pain shooting through her foot.
"I can't. I won't make it. Just go, leave me..." Kayla pleaded, shaking off Sheree's hand and pushing her away.
The black bear seemed to tire as well. Seeing Kayla on the ground, it slowed down, leisurely ambling toward her.
