Chapter 2: 🏇The Immortal Lord's Visit 🏇
(Immortal Realm)
“Grandma, why did The Almighty say so?”
The old woman’s hands trembled as she stirred the fire. Outside, the wind howled like a beast.
“Because, Aida,” she whispered, “the moment the stone comes to light again, the three realms will go to war.”
Aida pulled her blanket closer.
“Is the stone really that terrible?” The old woman’s hand steadied, squeezing hers gently.
“Yes, Aida.” The old woman’s eyes locked onto the child’s. “It is a forbidden stone. One that must never see the light of day again.”
Aida frowned, confused, looking down. “But grandma, is the st—”
The door opened and someone entered.
The air around him tasted clean. Like rain on stone. One's head cleared just by breathing it. His blue flame rolled off him like dawn over water, cool and endless. The Immortal Lord’s star burned on his forehead, not with heat, but with light that made the wounded stop bleeding and the terrified stop shaking.
“Uncle!” Aida ran toward him immediately.
“Didn’t I tell you not to run around?” He patted the child’s cheek gently and lifted her up.
“Ghao Ming,” the old woman called out, surprised.
“Grandma, how is your health?” He moved closer and sat beside her.
“I’m well, Ming. I heard something happened at the Three Pillars.” The Three Pillars were tall formations used to guard and seal the Heavenly Realm, the Immortal Realm.
“It’s all good now, grandma. XieXie and I fixed it. It was just a few low-level demons that escaped from the Devil Realm trying to break in.”
“Good work,” Grandma acknowledged.
“Grandma, who is Uncle XieXie to Uncle Ming? I always see them together,” Aida asked, snuggling closer to the old woman.
“XieXie is Ming’s personal bodyguard and friend since childhood. He’s like family to him.” Aida inhaled deeply and pouted, squeezing her face. Ming smirked at her reaction.
“Aida, don’t be jealous. I’m still your only uncle.”
“Yeah! My uncle is the best!” She shouted, jumping up and down excitedly.
“Grandma, I have to go. There’s a meeting in the palace waiting for me.” He stood up immediately.
“Okay, no wahala. Just be safe.”
