The battle had concluded.
The Vyn had returned and erected a protective wall at the breach in the mountain. The opening was swiftly sealed with roots from above, a magnificent oak taking root as a shield.
The wood elves established their camp in the meadow. Daru proclaimed that the years of separation between the factions had stemmed from a misunderstanding, elaborating on the events at Validon. He then announced a new alliance between the Dwellyn and the Elves.
Callum instructed the elves to assist with healing and to give the fallen a proper burial.
The elves set up a tent that featured a portal to Faelynn's Remembrance. Aeliana, Catherine, and Avari each took a room to bathe and rest. Gal emerged to greet the Dwarves of Stonehorn, causing the Phrygh to scatter in fear at his presence.
“Why are you here, Berean?” Elysia inquired.
Gal, clearly irritated, replied, “I come at the request of the queens… It would be wise not to challenge me.”
Elysia bowed her head and offered no further comment.
Gal stood with authority.
“May I have your attention!” he called, his voice resonating powerfully.
“Lady Aeliana of the Valai has requested a private audience with Elysia and Arvandus. You may bring two representatives of your people into my tavern,” his expression darkened, “but be warned…
Any act of treachery, and I will not hesitate to end you.” He surveyed the crowd before breaking into a smile and gesturing behind him, “Now, let there be food and drink for all.” Half-goblin servants appeared, carrying trays, bowls, and pitchers laden with meat, fruits, and vegetables, while others set up tables and chairs.
Gal's gaze drifted north, unaware of the gathering crowd behind him.
“Are you well, old friend?” Callum asked.
The Berean looked thoughtful but smiled. “Look, Horn-Helm.” He pointed toward the woods.
Several large, hairy figures emerged from the trees.
Callum laughed heartily. “Come! Sons of Galadon!”
The group moved forward, parting the crowd as they approached.
“Horn-Helm! It has been centuries… What has transpired here?” the lead Berean asked Callum, his eyes locking with Gal's. “Father?!?”
Gal appeared moved to tears. “Hello, Gomm. It’s so wonderful to see you.”
The two embraced warmly.
“Come in! All of you. My tavern, Faelynn's Remembrance…” The name evoked smiles of reverence among them, honoring their matriarch.
“I am now charged with providing shelter to all good folk in need.”
Gomm nodded to his companions, and they entered the tavern.
Daru stepped out to witness the gathering, with Flynn closely behind. “Callum, did you know they were nearby?” he asked.
Callum chuckled, “Not exactly… but I had a hunch Gomm was close.”
He smiled.
“Where are the girls?” Flynn inquired. “Is Aeliana alright?”
Daru laughed at Flynn's concern. “Haven't you heard?” Flynn looked confused. “Our girl saved us!”
Flynn laughed. “I don't comprehend Dwellyn, Daru… how would I know?”
Callum chuckled, “You are the rarest version of yourself I've ever encountered, wanderer.”
Callum playfully slapped Flynn on the shoulder, leaving Flynn puzzled about the term ‘wanderer.’
“What do you mean by that? Wanderer??”
Callum paused. “That’s a tale for another time, my friend.” He looked at Flynn with respect. “As for Elysia and Arvandus… inform them that we are ready to meet with Aegyss.”
Flynn nodded and headed off to find the Phrygh.
