18 Progress and Failure

-----The next morning-----

"Morning love."

I mumble out as I kiss Sam on the forehead and gently rub their back.

"Daddy?"

They ask as I start to get dressed, both for work and for the interview.

"It's ok Baby, I will be back after work like normal."

I say as I smile and gently hug them before giving them my pillow as they curl into it in their little pillow fort, we haven't full made up yet so I gave them the bed and I slept on the floor with a pillow and a blanket, but I still comfort them.

"Ok, let's do this."

I said softly to myself as I teleport into work an hour early, as Marcie arrives and I quickly get the kitchen ready as well as the front all 30 minutes before we open as my co-workers arrive, Al looking a bit off this morning as he looks at me and chuckles softly before saying.

"Remember when I asked for magic lessons?"

"Yeah?"

"I don't think I need them anymore, we'll talk more after your interview."

I nod and smile softly before teleporting to the HQ of my local news station, arriving when I said I would, 6:34 am.

"So who will be interviewing me?"

I asked as I walked into the bright light of the set as they were getting prepared, scaring everyone there who had no Idea how I appeared right on time and without walking through the main building.

"Um, I will be!"

A middle aged man said as he began to get up motioning to the couch opposite him for me to sit on.

"Ok, nice to meet you."

I said as I moved and sat down on the couch, sitting stiffly and calmly holding my hands softly.

"So what do you think of the situation and of the current allegations against you by the girl who is trapped?"

"I think that she got what she deserved, that is to be in an extremely uncomfortable situation with no control over their ability to leave their position just like the many people she has manipulated."

"Oh? What is your relationship with her then?"

"She tried to manipulate me when I fancied her, I saw through it and moved forward, ignored her, and forgave her for the attempt by the time I graduated."

"Really now? Why do you believe she tried to manipulate you?"

"To be blunt she attempt to use the idea of dating her as a carrot tied to a stick to lead me into giving her money and being a toy for her, as she had another man under her at the time."

"Oh? Do you harbor any ill feelings towards him?"

"No, actually I respect his loyalty and persistence."

"Really?"

"Yes, he deserves much better than that horrible woman."

"Well, you still haven't answered our second question."

"That is because they are not allegations, they are fact, my newest spell, one I can use to force both embarrassment, or even start torturing, let alone that I can use a spell called 'Teleport'."

"So you are saying you did do this to her."

"Yes, and due to a contract with the Government I have nothing to worry about."

"Ok then."

"So what will you do now?"

"I will continue to work with the government and grow my spells."

I say before using 'teleport' and reappearing back into my work's main room before nodding to everyone and going into the back room to watch Al using his newest skill to properly mix up a bowl of egg, cheese, potatoes, and bacon.

"Well, you awakened a skill then?"

"Yep, so I can't cast magic, but gained an extremely powerful skill, a bit bullshit at first, but I can cause level 3 earthquakes without paying attention but if I focus I can cause level 5 earthquakes of course they are short and drain me quickly."

"Ah, so that works well for mixing minor things huh?"

"Yep, I tried making a smoothie but it's not abrasive enough to break it down smoothly very quickly, it's more proportional than you would assume."

"Ah, maybe I can make a weaker version as a spell?"

"If you do I should be allowed to use it, but we'll see."

"Indeed."

I say smiling as me and Al quickly begin to work side by side knocking out the prep and any orders that comes through, me now running them out and talking with customers to help bring in more people as well as enjoying the boost from showing up to the interview early in the morning.

"Daniel, I need you to entertain some customers and show them why they shouldn't be so rude."

Marrisa says as she walks into the kitchen holding their head and I walk out.

"Hey what's going on out here?"

"Are you the man who runs this place!?"

An older man asks looking pissed off and yelling his veins popping out on his skin and his face red like a pepper.

"No, I'm just the most senior man employed here, are you ok sir? You look like a pepper."

"What a disrespectful boy! Where is the owner!? Bring him out here!"

"Ah, I'm going to say this once sir, calm down and leave as you will not be served, or I will forcibly remove you."

I say as I start to generate multiple scorching water bullets around me aimed at the angry older man.

"How dare you threaten your-"

Is all he got to say before he got shot out of the building by a rapid fire scorching water bullets sending him to the sidewalk with several burns and bruises on his body as I walk out to him and pick him up lifting him on the ground smiling softly while staring into his eyes and saying.

"If you ever return you better apologize and ask for forgiveness from the owner, the woman who walked into the back of this establishment, understood?"

"Y-yes sir!"

The older man exclaimed as I let him down and let him run off as I walk back and enter into the kitchen again and relax a bit sitting down off to the side in the storage room holding my head mumbling softly and quickly.

"Holy s**t I just did that."

Over and over as I attempt to calm myself down and Marrisa simply says.

"Daniel, take a break relax, clock out and take your moment, once you're ready, come back and clock in, I can tell you need it."

I simply nodded before getting up and clocking out and using 'Teleport' and vanishing appearing back home and tackle hugging Sam who was in the middle of a class tears running down my face as I cling to them.

"D-Daniel!?"

"I'm sorry, I'm having a breakdown and had a very difficult situation as work, and my boss let me take a break."

I say as I start to cry and cling to them a bit more trying to relax slowly and letting out my frustration and anxiety.
