The drive was quiet — Reeves focused on the road, checking mirrors with the automatic frequency of someone who'd been doing it for hours and wasn't ready to stop. Lena beside me in the back, phone in her hand, looking at the message again. Watch your back. Three words that had shifted everything about how the evening ended.
