Chapter 2 - Blake Westley

1089 Words
“Time to set up for dinner!” Amy called up the stairs. I put my book down and got up. I walked down the stairs and stopped half way down. I could hear him, my brother’s best friend, Blake Westley. Not just his best friend, but the alpha’s son. He was built like an alpha, tall and muscular. Always calling me rouge, flicking things at me, or pushing me when I wasn’t in his way. The town was going crazy, it was Blake’s birthday soon and everyone loved Blake. He was just a *sshole who used his daddie’s power to lord over everyone at school. I rounded the corner and saw him laughing. He was hard to miss, his bright blonde hair could reflect light. I made my way into the kitchen, making it a point not to look at him. He started to move the chair at the island. Squeak squeak squeak. “Hi Ella.” Blake said loudly. Blake was one of the only people to know my name when I was found was Ella, before they changed it. “Kelsi, Blake! You know if my mom hears you say that, she’s going to get mad.” Jake warned him. “Make her say hello to me.” Blake was almost demanding. Jake nudged me as I got plates down. “Ugh, hi Blake.” I said coldly. “Ella, it’s my birthday tomorrow.” Blake reminded me. He was reminding everyone. “How wonderful for you.” My voice was unchanging. “Are you coming to my party?” He asked. “No.” I said turning and walking to the table. “Jake is going to be there.” Blake got up and followed me. “Why do you care where I go?” I set the plates out. “You’re not going to set a place for me?” Blake said sadly. “Are you seriously staying?” I looked at him. “Actually no, Jake and I are leaving once Jessica gets here.” Blake looked at his smart watch. “Great! Tell your girlfriend I said hello.” I faked a happy voice. “She’ll appreciate that, since you blew her off during lunch to skip class again.” Blake said loudly. “Shut up!” I whispered and Blake laughed. The doorbell rang and Blake pushed past me. “You can’t go around!?” I felt my anger rise. “Too busy. Not much time.” He chuckled as he walked towards the door. I heard all three talk for a bit and then the door closed. I finished setting up the table and walked back to the kitchen. Amy stood in front of the oven. “Ten seconds left!” She smiled at me. “When’s dad coming home?” I asked. “Any minute. Alpha Caleb is focused on the birthday party. They’re going all out this year.” Amy opened the oven and pulled out her famous tuna casserole. I’m not sure what made it so famous. “Blake was talking about it.” I said grabbing the pot holders to place on the table. We walked to the dining room and I set the pot holders down. Amy placed the casserole on top and she sighed some relief. “Starting to burn my hands!” Amy giggled as she sat down. I sat and pulled my phone out. “No phones at the table!” Amy said and I put it in my pocket. “We aren’t even eating yet.” I said, but before she could answer, the door opened and she lit up. “Parker! We just sat down!” Amy called out to him. Parker walked into the dining room. “Perfect timing! Right kiddo?” Parker sat down and grabbed his napkin. He put it in his collar like he always did when he wore dress shirts. “Always impeccable timing.” I said and they both looked at me. “So what’s this I hear about you skipping class?” Parked said as he served himself. “Mom!” I said and Amy shrugged. I had dared her to tell him. “I didn’t think it would matter. I have straight A’s and graduation is in a few weeks.” I let Amy serve herself next. “It always matters. Alpha heard about it too.” Parker said and Amy let out a slight gasp. “Why is it any of his business?!” I was annoyed that so many people were inviting themselves into my life. “He’s requested I ground you from attending the party.” Parker smiled at me. “Oh gosh dad! Not that!” I faked being upset and we all laughed. They knew how rude Blake had been to me. “I thought you would like that.” He said as he took a bite of Amy’s casserole. “Don’t skip anymore classes or I’ll have to do worse.” He said sternly. We all sat in the living room watching tv when I heard my mom’s phone. I looked at her as she read her messages. “I guess Jake is going to stay at Blake’s tonight.” Amy said before putting her phone down. “But it’s a school night.” Parker said without looking over. “Yes, but Caleb is insisting they start celebrating tonight.” Amy said with slight annoyance. “Oh, I know he’s hoping Blake and Jessica mate bond tonight. He must want Jake there to celebrate when it happens.” Parker mentioned as he stood and stretched. “I’m going to put five dollars on that they don’t bond!” Amy said with a smile. “Oh yeah? I’ll take you up on that.” He held out his hands and they shook. “I’m a official witness!” I jumped up. “Here that Mr. Beta? There’s a official witness.” Amy said as Parker learned down kissing her. “Wait, what makes you so sure they won’t bond? Jessica is beautiful, perfect in all her courses, and a natural leader in training. She has Luna written all over her.” Parker said looking at her quizzically. “The look on Blake’s face when she talks. By now, he would be feeling something towards her. He looks annoyed as soon as her mouth opens.” Amy looked at me and I giggled. “Oh no! Can I change my answer!?” Parker sighed and we all laughed.
