Despite the comparative success of the early evening's operation, the main office of the Specialist Murder Investigation Team held a subdued atmosphere as Detective Chief Superintendent Hollingsworth prepared to address the team. Also present were Mr. Smith and his cohorts, Messrs Brown and Black, the three men looking distinctly out of place in their black suits, white shirts, and black ties, though the suits were looking somewhat less than pristine after their time on board the Baltic Sentinel, their highly polished shoes now also looking more grey than black under a thick coating of dust. Ross couldn't help mentally comparing them to three down-at-heel pall bearers from a cheap and less than cheerful firm of funeral directors.
