Chapter 38Loose ends
The two days following the meeting chaired by D.C.S. Sarah Hollingsworth possessed a surreal and ambivalent air about them for Ross and his team. There were none of the usual drinks in the pub to celebrate the successful conclusion to a case, as, on this occasion, Ross and the others couldn't really feel as though their case had been fully closed.
Word filtered down from the office of Detective Chief Superintendent Hollingsworth that 'Smith's people' as she described them, had picked up Charles Crowe and his two cronies and all three were now the 'guests' of Her Majesty's security services. Andy Ross and Izzie Drake would have preferred to be the arresting officers in Crowe's case, but that privilege was denied to them.
