By the time Ross and Drake pulled up on the street thirty yards from the Golden Oaks Bed and Breakfast Hotel on Nelson Street, they could see they'd been beaten to it by the presence on the street of the Crime Scenes Van carrying Miles Booker and his team, two police patrol cars, and Doctor William Nugent's ubiquitous Volvo estate car. Despite his good salary and position, Nugent loved his aged dark green Volvo that he'd driven for over ten years, and which Ross saw as part of the man's extended personality. The car simply was Nugent. Anything else just wouldn't suit him.
“They could have left a space for us,” Drake complained as she switched the engine off and she and Ross exited the pool car.
