I woke up once again curled up with Nikki and just took a moment to admire how beautiful she was and how adorable she looked sleeping.

I reluctantly got out of bed and went into the bathroom and took a shower before heading into the kitchen.

As I set there eating cereal my thoughts drifted to last night and how it killed me watching Nicole break down like that. Hell, everything that she was told was a lot to take in, anyone would have crumbled.

I wanted to hold her tightly and never let her go and hunt down the pack that had caused all of this by attacking Alpha Mike’s pack years ago. I knew it was Jeorg Moon because I’ve heard tidbits of the story before but never the full version till last night.

All my wolf wanted to do was go to Alpha Hunter’s pack and rip everyone’s heads off that were involved in the attack and I would have left Hunter for last and tortured him then went in for the kill and left his corpse to rot.

I wanted to hurt them for hurting my mate. And so help me Moon Goddess but if the secret of her being a hybrid got out and any Supernatural Being came and touched one little light brown hair on her head they would die a horrific death. No one was going to harm the woman I loved.

I froze mid-chew as I thought about that. I nodded then resumed eating. I’ve always loved Nicole, even when we were kids but that love amplified when she became my mate.

The urge to mark her was so damn strong but I knew that I had to wait because it was clearly not the right time.

‘That’s bullshit, it is the right damn time!’ My wolf growled.

‘Shut up Loki she’s been through a tough time’ I scolded him and he rolled his eyes and threw up a mental block.

I heard my bedroom door open and a moment later Nikki walked into the kitchen.

“Morning, you okay?” I asked to which she nodded and opened the fridge and took out milk and took my bowl from me and poured more milk and cereal in it and took another spoon from the drawer and we shared the cereal in silence.

Man I hate this, I thought to myself. Nikki and I always talked and laughed while sharing a bowl of cereal but now all I get is awkward silence.

It has been like this with us since she became my mate, we haven’t really talked about it or anything for that matter.

I thought we were okay yesterday morning when she jumped into my arms when I picked her up for school – s**t, school.. I looked at the clock and realised that we still have two hours before it started.

I sighed heavily then put my spoon down, realising that it’s time we had a talk. “What’s happening to us Nicole? You’ve barely said anything to me after you came back from Miami and this whole drama happened. It’s been nothing but awkward silence between us and I don’t like it.”

She looked up at me then sighed “I don’t know Logan,this transition from best friends to mates has been weird okay. I don’t know how to deal with it.” She said quietly.

I looked at her intently “Then why the hell didn’t you talk to me, instead you shut me out. It’s me Nikki, whether we’re mates or whatever it’s still me,Logan your best friend and I hate that you didn’t come and talk to me.” I said my voice rising because for some reason I was starting to become pissed.

She studied me for a while before talking. “I understand that and I’m sorry but a lot has happened these passed few days. ” I softened remembering all that she has gone through in a space of a few days.

I mentally kicked myself and I was about to apologise but the next words that flew out of my mouth were far from being an apology.

“I love you” I watched as her breath caught and I mentally face palmed myself, s**t that’s not how I meant to say it.

‘Damn you Loki’ I scolded my wolf.

‘Geez I was just help speeding things along’ He replied smoothly.

“Wh-what?” She stuttered looking flustered

“I didn’t mean to say that” her face instantly fell and she turned to leave but I grabbed her wrist, “s**t no Nikki, that’s not what I meant, I love you I really do, what I meant is that that’s not how I meant to tell you.”

I ran my hands through my hair and sighed “Hell Nikki, I’ve loved you for quite some time now. You’re mine and I have to fight with my wolf everytime when you’re near because the urge to mark you is so damn strong.”

She grinned up at me then walked to the sink and started washing the dishes.

I was kind of disappointed that she didn’t say it back but hell at least she didn’t run away yelling “Eww” in a high pitched voice.

"Help me with these?" she pointed to the dishes then handed me a towel.

"I like this," I said, "Seems all domestic and shit."

I was rewarded with one of her grins. I helped her with the dishes then I accidentally splashed her with water.

"You did that on purpose." she laughed looking down at her wet t-shirt.

"It was an accident. I swear!" I held up my hands in surrender.

She turned back to the sink and cupped water into her hands and splashed me. In a matter of seconds our clothes were soaking wet as well as the kitchen floor and I swear to you that I have no clue how it happened but one minute we were laughing at the mess we created and the next Nikki was up against the fridge with me attacking her lips and her legs wrapped around my waist.

“I love you too” she moaned and I grinned against her lips and continued kissing along her neck, lips and nose. Sparks flew, bombs went off, Mars exploded was how it felt when I was kissing her. MY NICOLE!

‘It’s our Nicole’ Loki growled.

‘Shut up wolf, I’m kind of busy here’ I said then immediately blocked him out.

“Oh dear” a voice said from behind and I reluctantly pulled away from Nikki and put her down.

I turned around to see my mom standing in the kitchen entrance with pink cheeks. “Morning you two” she said casually then went to the stove.

Nicole mumbled a quick “Morning” then ran out like a bat out of hell. My mom grinned at me and shook her head “Just keep in mind that I’m too young for grand babies Logan” I chuckled “Will do mother” I said over my shoulder as I left the kitchen with a s**t eating grin on my face.

‘You better thank me for help speeding things along, she said she loves US too’ Loki said smugly.

‘Yeah,yeah whatever thanks’ I replied, the smile still not leaving my face.
