Chapter 5 The Thoughts of Three

904 Words
At noon in the Colin Group's CEO's office, secretaries bustled around, quickly moving the lunch delivered by the butler's staff into the lounge. Theodoric, the CEO, had just finished the work he was supposed to complete this morning. As he entered the lounge, the secretaries discreetly exited, only to gather by the elevators and start discussing their boss' unusual behavior. "Mr. Colin is usually so punctual. It's strange to see him late." "I heard there was a family party at his place last night. Maybe he had a bit too much to drink?" "Mr. Colin can handle his alcohol. I bet it's a woman. I heard his brother Eric just got a new tutor, and she's a real looker." "Seriously? Our CEO might be in a love scandal? I thought he was too busy with that high-maintenance Douglas heiress to notice anyone else." "There are always beautiful women around Mr. Colin, but this is the first time one's made him late for work. I'd love to see her." Their conversation grew louder, and Theodoric, returning to his office to fetch some documents, could overhear bits of their chatter. Theodoric rubbed his temples. While he usually managed his encounters with women without much trouble, last night's indulgence was unprecedented since leaving Benson's manor. No, he hadn't been this wild even before. He thought back to his high school days with Faye. Their encounters then had been more about teenage release, quick bursts of passion that came and went swiftly. Last night felt more like an explosive release after a long period of repression. Remembering the more mature body he had held beneath him, Theodoric tightened his grip on his water cup, feeling his overworked lower body stir again. But as soon as he thought about Faye's real purpose for being here, his expression darkened. "Faye... I hope you don't mess things up," Theodoric muttered to himself. Meanwhile, at the Colin Manor. Sebastian, the butler, and a maid delivered the dinner to Faye's room. After a night of passion with Theodoric that stretched into the early morning, she was ravenous. Thankfully, Sebastian and the chef had anticipated her hunger, as the meal was more generous than usual. The lunch was set out on a small table in her room, including juicy roast chicken, freshly baked bread, creamy mushroom soup, and a refreshing potato salad. This hearty meal was perfect for replenishing energy, especially with Eric's afternoon riding lesson coming up. "Sebastian, where's Eric?" Faye asked. She had hoped to use lunchtime to ease the tension with Eric but was surprised to find the meal delivered to her room. "Mr. Eric Colin is having his meal in his room. Mr. Theodoric Colin specifically instructed us to bring today's lunch here," Sebastian said, giving a polite and courteous bow. Faye shrugged. It seemed Theodoric thought it would be too awkward for her and Eric to face each other right after this morning's incident. 'Well, this is a bit over the top!' she thought. However, she kept her thoughts to herself, not wanting to risk causing any trouble with the staff by complaining about Theodoric. With a slight smile, Faye began to eat, spreading some homemade apple jam on her bread before savoring her lunch. ***** "Damn it!" Eric stabbed his fork into a piece of chicken with unnecessary force. His mind was a mess, filled with anger he didn't know how to release. Theodoric was at the office, and Faye was in her room. Eric had considered barging in to confront her but remembered Theodoric's clear instructions not to enter her room. His remaining sense of reason kept him from disobeying. Theodoric had already cut his allowance five times this month for disobedience. If this kept up, Eric might be stuck eating nothing but street hotdogs. This only made his anger worse. Eric was angry at Faye for her betrayal and at Theodoric for his favoritism towards her. "I knew she was just like all the others!" Eric slammed his fork down, stormed away from the table, and threw himself onto his bed, seething with frustration. Before Faye came along, Eric had been through a number of tutors, but none lasted long. They were either less competent than he was or were more interested in Theodoric than in actually teaching him. Faye, however, was a different story. Over the past week, she had proven herself. When Eric tested her with letters written in eighteen different languages, she translated them all flawlessly. He'd also seen her impressive skills in horseback riding and marksmanship. Most importantly, she managed to put up with his temper. Previous tutors had barely lasted three days, but Faye had stayed for an entire week. Just when Eric thought he had finally found someone worth respecting, this morning's events shattered that illusion. In the end, she seemed no different from the others who only used him as a stepping stone! Eric was so frustrated that he started pulling at his hair. He needed to get some sleep to cool down, or he might not be able to control his reactions during the afternoon's riding lesson, especially with that woman who had been with Theodoric. But every time he closed his eyes, he would see the morning scene in his mind's eye. Faye, half-reclining, with the sheets falling away to reveal her alluring breasts, her figure outlined by the fabric. That image only made his frustration worse.
