In the afternoon, on the grassy field, Eric sat in a chair nearby, his face pale.
His gaze was fixed on Faye, and he couldn't stop thinking about the feel of her waist when he had just held it.
It was different from all the women he had slept with before. Faye's waist was firm and perfectly shaped.
Almost without thinking, he went through the motion of holding her again, marveling at how slim she was!
He could grip her completely with his hands.
If they were in bed, he could...
"Eric."
Faye's voice snapped him back to reality, and he pushed aside the inappropriate thoughts that had crept into his mind. He looked up at her as she gracefully dismounted from her horse, walking towards him with that effortless elegance she always had.
"Eric? Are you alright?"
Faye noticed the intense look in his eyes as he watched her, and though she was inwardly amused, she kept her expression concerned.
"I'm fine. But I don't feel like staying here any longer," Eric replied, though irritation crept into his voice.
Eric pulled off his hat and tossed it to a nearby maid, his eyes lingering on Faye, who looked slightly disheveled from the ride. An idea suddenly came to him.
"Come with me. At least let me thank you properly for saving my life."
Faye found herself being whisked away in one of the luxurious cars of the Colin family, heading towards the shopping district.
As they stepped out of the car, she quickly became aware of the stares from people around them, some filled with envy, others with curiosity, and a few with admiration.
Some stared at the car, but when they saw Eric, those looks shifted to her.
"I really appreciate you bringing me here. But isn't it a bit too blatant for us to shop together like this?" Faye said, her expression showing a bit of discomfort.
"What's the problem? Because you're my brother's lover? But didn't you say you're still my teacher? What's wrong with a student wanting to thank his teacher?"
As he said this, he took her by the wrist and led her towards a mall he frequented.
Faye looked a little uncertain, but she didn't pull away, which only made Eric even more satisfied.
They reached the upper floor of the mall, where luxury brands, those seen only in fashion magazines and on trendy media, lined the walls.
Eric led Faye to a boutique known for its evening gowns and said to the sales assistant at the counter, "Find her something that'll fit."
'Evening gown? Why are we buying this?' Faye wondered, preparing to refuse.
"Don't be too quick to refuse, my dear teacher," he said, his tone dripping with mischief. "And don't try to tell me the dress you wore to last night's event is still in one piece. Just so you know, the Colin family's event isn't exactly a fan of overly revealing outfits."
Faye was momentarily at a loss for words.
Eric had hit a sore spot. Though she wasn't short on money, Faye wasn't into parties and had only brought that one evening gown for the Colin event.
And of course, Theodoric had shredded it, so it was completely out of the question.
Seeing her momentary silence, Eric couldn't help but feel even more pleased.
Wanting to keep on good terms with him, Faye reluctantly gave her measurements to the sales assistant and went into the fitting room with the gowns and heels the staff had brought.
Eric passed the time playing a game on his phone. When he heard the fitting room curtain being drawn back, he looked up, his eyes lighting up.
Faye stepped out in a black mermaid gown. The luxurious fabric hugged her figure perfectly, highlighting her breasts and hips. The cinched waist emphasized her silhouette, reminiscent of the curves he had seen on the field.
Unfortunately, despite the shawl covering her shoulders, the marks Theodoric had left were still visible.
The sales staff and other associates glanced at the marks with knowing looks, which only fueled Eric's frustration.
'Damn it, all Theodoric's doing!' he shouted inwardly.
"We'll take this one," Eric said firmly.
Despite his irritation, he found the gown perfect for Faye. He handed his credit card to the sales associate, his gaze fixed on Faye.
'Well, looks like I have no say in this shopping trip,' Faye thought, rolling her eyes internally. She turned to head back to the fitting room to change into her casual clothes.
"Hold on, just keep the dress on," Eric said, pulling her back.
In her high heels, she lost her balance and fell into his arms.
Faye froze, clearly startled.
Eric hadn't expected her to stumble into him, but the feel of her soft, faintly scented body pressed against him was unexpectedly pleasant.
He took back his credit card from the sales associate and wrapped his arm around Faye as they headed out.
"Don't rush off, my dear teacher. Theodoric just let me know he won't be joining us for dinner, so how about we go out and have a nice meal together?"
"Eric..."
Seeing Faye looking down, hesitating, Eric took it as a sign of agreement. His mood brightened as he kept her close, making a reservation on the phone while leading her out of the mall.
Little did he know, as Faye lowered her head, a cold smile tugged at her lips.
