Chapter 18 Over the next weeks, they tried to settle into something that looked like a real life. That first week, Carolyn had taken time to scrub every inch of the place, using the new items from Sandy. She’d hung the second-hand curtains in the bedroom and living room, and had washed the dishes and old pots before finding them a home in the cabinets.
