The sun had just set when Benjamin arrived at Mamy’s establishment. He shivered, then stepped into the warmth of the tavern. Rubbing his hands together, he looked around, trying to focus through the soft layer of smoke filling the room. He spotted John leaning against the bar, waving his tankard of beer in greeting. Seeing him warmed Benjamin more than the blazing fireplace in the corner.
