Chapter 8

Star woke up the next morning, and immediately recalled the previous night where she had agreed to be Philip's chosen, she had been marked finally and she felt contented. Philip wasn't in bed cuddling with her as usual, he must have something urgent to settle, still reeling from the memories, she stood up lazily and walked to the bathroom and took her bath. Standing in front of the mirror, she touched the mark, it looked like a full moon with a capital letter P on it, she sighed and left the bathroom wrapped in a towel. Suddenly she heard growls and snarling coming from outside and faint shouts, then very briefly but suddenly, she felt a familiar feeling of panic and then pain on her right leg, only there's was nothing wrong with her. It must be Philip. She visibly panicked and didn't realize she had knocked the bedside lamp to the floor, the bedroom door burst open and a man ran into the room looking panicked and after looking around the room, there was no danger. 

"Luna, are you alright?” He asked and only then did he realize what she was putting on. He stood straight and turned away from her.

"I'm okay, I just had a bad feeling. What's going on, I hear strange sounds outside?" She avoided the use of his name because she couldn't remember it. Was it John or Joe?

"There's a Rogue Attack and Alpha Philip along with the Beta and a few others have gone to settle the situation. I was instructed to protect our Luna and some warriors are around the pack house too." He reported.

"How long has this fight lasted?" She asked while rummaging through her closet on what to wear, she wasn't comfortable with being in only a towel around a pack warrior.

"I bet you'd like to be in nothing when you're with Philip" Lisa said and Star rolled her eyes at her wolf half.

"The fight has been ongoing since 5:30am and most of the invaders have retreated but their few skilled are still around, we have captured 1 for questioning though. Most of the Female pack members are present in the pack house and the warriors are guarding the house." Joe replied.

He's name should be Joe, his twin Brother is John. 

"Ok, that'll be all." Star said to dismiss him. 

Joe bowed and left the room.

She sighed and put on her clothes and a hoodie to hide her scars.

It was finally coming to an end, he was fatigued and his right thigh was still aching and the scratch was taking too long to heal. He had been fending off intruders for five hours and he was tired. If only he hadn't been grazed by a silver bullet. The thought that he finally had a mate to protect had him fighting till the end and finally the stupid fight had ended.

"Sam, take about four warriors and patrol the borders. We can't have them remain on our land." He mind linked his Beta and Best friend.

He shifted and ran back to the pack house. Pushing open the door, he was greeted with the smell of chicken soup, bread and Avocado salad. He hadn't shifted back yet. All eyes snapped to him and all heads instantly bowed except the one that bore his mark. He walked towards her and she bent down with a worried look to pat his head. At this point in time, everyone in the pack house had gone back to doing their business.

"I woke up, I couldn't find you & I was worried" Star mind linked him.

He wanted to smile but could only manage wolfish grin. "I'll go up to rest" 

She smiled and let him go up, then she hurriedly served the food and pleaded with some of the women to do the dishes. She went up the stairs to her room with Philip and saw him sleeping. He had showered and smelled like mint. 

She walked to the bed and sat down carefully, he looked really tired and she wanted him to rest. He had long lashes, full eyebrows and a chiseled chin. She kissed his head the way her mother used to kiss her when she was little.

"Lie with me" and with that she was pulled into his warm embrace, no room for arguments or discussion.

Not that she would have refuse and she liked it.

"You wish" she heard in her head. 

Smiling to herself, she let the warmth envelope her and she drifted into sleep.

"My love, do you know how beautiful you are? We will be together but it'll take time, you are not ready yet" he looked down at her and placed a very light kiss on her head and just like that he was gone.
