CHAPTER 10

'Alpha, we are under attack. They're passed the border and headed towards the elderly homes' Sam reported

She watched as his eyes glazed over, someone was mindlinking him.

She was to be officially crowned Luna of the pack tomorrow and she was a nervous wreck, Philip's Parents and his only sister, Maria were already staying at the pack house.

Maria was very nice and friendly, She was unmated but she wasn't inexperienced in the s****l department so she always teased Star about it. She wasn't shy to talk about the stuff too but Star wasn't ready to share her experience with Philip to anyone, it was her memories to cherish that's why she always ignored her when she asked about it.

Now they were together this evening, She and Philip, enjoying the cool breeze when he received the report.

"Darling, I have to go. The south border was attacked and the infiltrators were headed towards the elderly homes', I'll be back before midnight, ok?" He asked

She nodded and just like that he was gone.

She was lonely again for the evening. These attacks were becoming rampant and she wanted to fight alongside Philip but she couldn't argue back at him when he said she was to stay back home with the other women.

'we have alpha genes and traits. We can handle ourselves, why won't he let us fight alongside him?' Lisa paced inside her

'I really don't know, it must have something to do with their dominance as wolf males.' Star shrugged

"What are you so occupied discussing about?" A giddy voice asked, obviously perked up for conversation but Star wasn't really in the mood.

"I was discussing with my other half" she replied

"Phil? But he was just here a while ago, where is he by the way?" Maria asked

"Oh no, you misunderstood me. I wasn't talking to Philip, I was conversing with my wolf half" she explained laughing a bit

"Oh, so that's it. What were you girls discussing? Your rendezvous with Phil or the coronation tomorrow?" She perked

"Well it's partially related to the coronation. I can't wait to reduce some work for him. Especially with the frequent attacks and infiltrators. I'm worried about him" and she really was.

"Well, I can tell that you are worried. Tomorrow, you can officially take the burden you know and FYI, I'm doing your make-up and picking your dress" She beamed.

Star shook her head at the glow in her in-law's eyes. Maria was the sister she never had.

Sure she had step siblings, three for that matter but they never cared about her.

"Let's go prepare dinner." Maria beaconed on her with a smile.

They went hand in hand arguing whether to make muffins or cream cheese sandwich for snacks.

At the Southern border, Philip, Sam and a few warriors including the twins, had succeeded in capturing three of the invaders and about seven bodies were on the ground, these opponents were rather weak than the previous ones but these three had a message.

"We must meet your Luna." The first guy spoke while hissing in pain as his jaw was broken.

"No, you'll not see her", Philip said in his Alpha tone and that shut him up, although he did spare the young Alpha a glare.

"Please, just let me go. I don't even want to be here" the third guy said. He had the build of a Delta but why was he among the rogues?

Philip was confused, just then a blade sliced through upper left arm. It was a very tiny blade coated in silver.

He didn't know where the blade had come from, he growled in pain and alert as he pushed the blade out.

His Beta and the warriors taking position beside him ready to attack.

They had just brought out the banana muffins from the oven when Star felt a sharp pain in her upper left arm and the pain was intense, she cried out.

"What happened to you?" Maria asked as she was alarmed by the outburst and at the moment, Star was clutching at her arms with her right hand for dear life.

"My arm hurts" star said, she already adjusted to the pain.

After they had both examined the arm, a feeling of alertness flooded her through Philip's mark, she became antsy because of that.

"Your upper arm feels and looks ok." The pack doctor said

"But I felt it very vividly. Something cut me like a jab of a knife or a small dagger." She explained shuddering at the image

"Luna, I'm positive that you are ok and right now what you experienced is part of the bond you have with Alpha Philip"

"That means he was actually hurt" she said throwing her up in the air and then she ran out of the office towards her room to put on a jacket and dashed out of the house with Maria hot on her trail.

"We will only deliver our message when we meet your Luna and that jab in your arm is a little greeting and warning" the second guy snarled

That action did not sit well with Philip as he gave the second guy a punch.

"Oh...yes, your Luna is on her way here as we speak. I can smell her and her panic too. Who knew the mate bond was effective" he smirked deviously. The first guy had spoken again and his words caught Philip off guard that he did not see the second guy punch him with iron fist but he was too preoccupied trying to smell her out, of course he could sense the panic in their bond but other than that, nothing else.

'Star, are you back at the house?', he tried mindlinking her but she had blocked off the connection for some reason.

Maria who was running with Star suddenly pick up her pace and ran past her Luna now trailing a sweet scent, she etched in closer to it, taking time to savor its energy and the peace it brought to her, but also a certain pull warned her of the dangerous situation ahead.

Star was confused by her sister's reaction, she followed her now instead of vice versa. While running towards the southern border, she tried mindlinking him but there was a wall in between them like he had blocked her off.

'Phil! Speak to me. Are you hurt?' she almost wanted to cry.

She ran speedily.

The second guy prepared to lunch another attack and this time before he could reach Philip, he was knocked back into a tree.

"Star, what are you doing here?" Philip asked her after he had recovered from his shock, shocked that the first guy was right about her coming.

"I was worried about you, there was this pain on my arm and the doctor said that since I was well, it was you " she said while walking around him to inspect his body, the warriors and Beta just stood akimbo as they watched their Alpha being bossed.

The two guys had had enough but they were awestruck looking at Star, they could feel the power radiate from her and before they could speak, there was a growl followed by a small whimper.

Everyone turned to look at Maria looking at the third guy, more like she was making a quick study of him.

"Mine"

"Mine"

They said in perfect sync, Philip was dumbfounded and Star was shocked.

Was he not a rogue? Rogues were loners for life either they were banished or they left the pack themselves and no one except this guy would know the story.

"Maria, Star you girls are not supposed to be here." He said while putting them behind him to protect them but that earned him a growl from guy number three. This guy was already seriously injured, how did he have the strength to growl so loudly?

Philip's sister looked at him with affection in her eyes, the guy's eyes softened equally.

The other two intruders took everyone's attention from the new formed couple as they were now bowing their heads, willfully kneeling and not daring to look up but they were not bowing to the Alpha in their midst.

"Luna", they chorused their greeting dipping their head to the ground more.

Sam looked from Maria to Star trying to figure out which one of them was being addressed.

The latter was sharing gazes with her mate as their mate bond was at work.

Star on the other hand looked dumbfounded. Suddenly, she smelled it, that wonderfully enticing scent with it's aura that could instill fear and bring her peace to her alone.

"Luna, we have a message for you" the first guy said

Philip was already pissed off, first they were on his land and didn't acknowledge him enough to leave the message and now they were addressing his mate, wife-to-be and Luna of his pack as their Luna? They were saying that she has another Alpha somewhere.

Second, who was this Alpha?,

"Who are they addressing, Phil?" Star whispered to Philip

'they're talking to you, kitten. They have been instructed not to raise their heads or stand up unless you say so'. A voice whispered to her almost faintly

"I think they're referring to you and they are not pack members" he answered.

So it wasn't Philip whispering. So these strange men were referring to her as their Luna. She realized this as the sweet scent hung in the atmosphere.

"You are in the wrong place, No one here is your Luna."  Philip snarled but he was ardently ignored.

"You may rise," She said stepping forward and they did within a second but their heads remained bowed except the third guy, he had not once done anything in accordance with the other two.

It was Philip's turn to be shocked as he looked at Star exude confidence and he was very proud of her and himself, he taught her well.

"State your reason for coming to my pack" she voiced

'yes, you're doing it right sugar, they won't do anything in your presence without your orders.' the voice added

'who are you?' she asked but got no reply but she knew that whoever this person was, he lingered in the arena.

"At ease!" She commanded as the second guy was about to speak still bowing his head, he would get a stiff neck and she didn't want that.

"Thank you" they chorused.

"We have a message from our Leaders. The first one is for you Luna" The first guy relayed,

"Spill it", she didn't know where this tone from her came from but she was glad for it.

"He wants us to tell you that he is coming to get you for himself. He has waited for a long time but first you have to finish your trials and tests"

This three men risked their lives for this piece of message?

She was furious, what did those words even mean? What kind of test and trials has she not passed true already? Her life was literally just trials.

"As for your message, Alpha Philip" the second guy who looked more sinister said with a smirk that looked smudge because of the blood in his mouth. "He wants to warn you, he has tried his best for his chosen but he can not avert the sadness that's coming and the loss to your pack. Be careful, a force greater than you is coming."

Philip was appalled but moreso was his mate.

"You can feel it too, Luna. His Aura and presence is here, he's comforting you every chance he gets."

'is that true, do you feel his presence?' Philip asked her through their link.

'you can't deny me, kitten' The soothing voice boomed in her head.

She nodded to Philip.

All this while, Maria hadn't said a word to anyone else, she just looked at her mate as he looked at her too. The desire for one another was there, the need to comfort each other and complete each other was strong and their mate bond strengthened with each hour.
