Every muscles tightens with rage looking at photos of the five girls so far murdered. Each had ligature marks on their wrist and ankles showing signs they were bound probably during their torture. Each girl is forever engrained into my mind and their faces taunt whenever my eyes close.
Lucas clears his throat noticing my claws were eating into the office mahogany wooden desk. I clear my throat as it was getting raspier and rougher as time creeps closer to midnight.
“I know Lucas.” I growl Kade enraging looking at the gruesome pictures knowing these girl where obviously tortured with water in there lungs, a multitude of stab wounds in hands and feet areas that would bleed out slowly in hopes to answer the interrogators questions. Each dying from their throat being slashed, from the blunt force trauma to their skulls, or the severe internal hemorrhaging. What doesn’t make sense is they all looked similar shorter blonde hair an average medium build all within a small age gap 20-26 years old some werewolves, human, witches and even rare fae. “There’s movement with the hunters that annoying one that left has returned with a woman in tow. They’re staying at that old cottage on the outskirts of town.” He hesitantly informs me knowing how sensitive that subject has been lately.
I curse under my breath nodding. “Tighten up patrols and issue a warning to the pack to not wonder alone especially females matching this description.” I order shoving the photos in a drawer not able to retract my claws. I nod to him before quickly leaving the pack house Kade slowly ripping control away. Everything is almost a blur now a days as we became more animal than human. He travels faster than usual as if he already has a destination in mind with a sense of urgency he springs to a halt staying hidden within the tree line near the cottage the newest hunter is residing in.
We watch as the young woman keeps glancing out the bedroom window into the tree line. There’s no way she could see us yet her eyes always seem to find us hunched down into the darkness. Kade usually hated everyone’s presence as it was worsening with time but yet he was almost content here watching her. Her auburn hair was down to the middle of her back or maybe her curvy hips in soft waves clearly still damn from a shower making her cooler toned skin stand out alongside her big emerald green eyes, the perfect button nose and full lips. She is beautiful.
Kade slowly gives back control as the woman’s light finally turns off and her heart beat evens out as she finally sleeps. I try to question him but he refuses to answer besides he felt he was needed here. We stay hidden and slowly slip into a slumber; my ears perk up hearing the sound of her screaming for a second before footsteps rush down the hallway. I listen closely and watch as if danger had emerged in the house. What is going on with Kade? These feelings of protectiveness were coming from him but why to this human?
She scrambles outside onto the porch with her heart racing feeling comfortable enough with dawn creeping through the trees. She looks at ease with her eyes closed, I watch her intrigued and purely curious. I didn’t realize I had stepped slower until her eyes snap to mine before she stills watching me. Recognition flashes through them before she bolts back inside terrified of me. I quickly vanish from sight not wanting to freak her out more if she saw me lurking even longer.
‘Alpha, another body has been discovered by the hunters. It’s Jillian.’ I can hear the somber tone within Lucas. Everything goes red as rage fills ever muscle within my body. Dead. Tortured. Murdered. Pathetic. Helpless. Thoughts consume with the rage before everything fades as Kade becomes the monster that haunts this place.
