I slide into the passenger seat of Miles’ car noticing he was wearing a black tshirt that was a size to small but it shows off his muscle definition. He was attractive just like everyone else in this town but I wasn’t interested in him the way I knew he was interested in me. I couldn’t see anyone else the way I saw Vincent. I could see him eyeing the slightly revealing cleavage as he drove.
“Trust me Charlie, this will be fun,” he smiles trying to ease my nerves as he pulls up to a massive house bursting with people. The music so loud it was only a matter of time till someone complained. My jaw drops as someone’s doing a keg stand in the front yard. ‘This was a bad idea’ I think to myself as Miles drags me out of the car sensing my hesitation, the thought of grabbing my jacket is gone. Miles wanted to show off how he managed to get the loner girl to come out to play.
He smiles sweetly as he gives me a red solo cup filled with some sort of beer gesturing for me to drink as the music vibrates my brain from the volume. I swallow the lump forming in my throat and quickly down the disgusting alcohol before he grabs my hand and trying to dance with me. At first I resist but wanting to fit in for once I give into the impulses. Time flies as I’m actually having fun with Miles, “Vincent wants to talk, let’s meet him in the back” he smiles encouragingly at me. I grab another cup downing the liquid courage, ‘here goes nothing’ I mutter softly before following like a lamb to the slaughter.
My eyes widen as I take in the beautifully maintained backyard. The perfectly green grass surrounding the all to large crystal blue pool. My feet feel cemented to the ground as I make eye contact with him. His perfectly sculpted tan arms around the practically naked Amanda in the hot tub. I can see the storm brewing within his eyes as he takes me in almost baffled I’m here all the while growling loud enough everyone focus to what’s about to happen.
Amanda’s snickering breaks me out of the daze. ‘Awe Charlie. It’s quiet the surprise to see you here. Isn’t it honey?’ Her fingers dance across his bare chest never breaking her focus on me. My stomach drops as I wasn’t suppose to be here. She’d managed to trick me making her laughter even more sickening as my face drops. Everything spins as some throws me over their shoulder before jumping into the pool while I scream as loud as I could.
Panic that’s all I can feel in the cool water. Screaming as I look to my mom who’s frantically trying to get her seatbelt undone. ‘It’s okay baby. We’re gonna be okay’ she tries to reassure me with blood coming down the side of her head from colliding with airbag. My hands tremble as I get the seatbelt undone as freezing water is filling the car. ‘Mama.’ I plead getting scared as the car fills up more. Everything fades in and out before long the entire car is drowned with the river water. The door wouldn’t open, we were trapped.
I feel hands grip my arms hastily before yanking upward. As soon as I break through the surface I slam whoever pulled me out before they practically throw me on the cement next to the pool. I’m panting every ounce of my body was terrified, “Did you actually think he’d want scum like you around. So pathetic Charlie.” She drags out the nickname she’d creating for me before she cackles loudly as if this is the funniest thing in the world.
So confused with embarrassment I can’t glance at him as he joins in on the laughter before capturing her lips with his. I scramble to my feet as everyone erupts into laughter as I rush into the woods trying to blink the tears away. It hurts so much it burns but it doesn’t make sense why it bothers me so much that you just stood there. I run for what feels like miles before skirting to a stop as he appears infront of me. I gulp feeling rage roll off of him in waves, giving into my own rage from the vulnerability and embarrassment. I March up to him and slap him with everything I have, “go to hell!” I scream before his hand grabs my wrist as his eyes darker to a almost black color. “Pathetic.” He growls shoving me back in disgust before his eyes glaze over. He glares at me once more before running off.
He rushes off with incredible speed which explains his perfect physic. I shake off the tears picking myself off the ground before trying to finish walking home. I would eventually find the main road if I just keep going in one direction. Being so consumed with thoughts I don’t notice I was being followed until I see something run out of the corner of my eye. I stiffen trying to remain calm before picking up speed. I can see the road, ‘just a bit further’ I think to myself before it’s ripped away as something slams into me sending me flat on my stomach. The scream rips through my throat as something digs into my back ripping the dress in the proceed.
The weight and claws disappear making me roll to see what was happening. I gulp as there’s a dark haired naked man smirking at me. “Tsk, tsk.” He smirks bringing his fingers to his nose showcasing the blood encasing them. I can’t stop the tears flooding my cheeks as I try to scoot backwards from him.
A shadow jumps out from behind me growling darkly at the man. It was a wolf but way too large to be a normal wolf. My vision starts to fade as the dirt around me turns to mud with my blood. My body keep moving further from the man and wolf, there’s snapping and snarling as I refocus on the road, to safety. The large wolf finally faces me, those eyes they’re a beautiful blue grey. ‘So familiar.....’ I think to myself starting to give into the lure of darkness. It’s eyes show panic and fear as it moves closer before shaking its head violently before running off.
I barely manage to mumble a plea for help before everything goes black.
