Chapter 2
Just as I stepped into the corridor, I heard my son Nolan crying at the top of his lungs.
"That's mine! Why did you take my stuff!"
My heart clenched, and I rushed into the courtyard.
There, I saw my four-year-old son Nolan lying on the ground, a large patch of skin on his fair forehead scraped and bleeding.
Standing before him was a boy a head taller, his foot crushing Nolan’s model spaceship.
That spaceship was a gift I spent countless nights building for Nolan’s birthday.
I recognized the boy. He was Tiger, the son of “Beta Liam”—the man Aaron was pretending to be.
Tiger looked arrogant. He even ground his foot into the spaceship harder, and the cracking plastic echoed painfully.
“What do you mean yours? My mom said everything in Silver Pack will belong to me and my baby brother someday!”
“You little bastard. Go crawl back into whatever hole you came from!”
Tiger was just ten years old, but his mouth spewed the filthiest words.
My Nolan had always been gentle and polite, raised like a little gentleman. He had never heard such venom before.
Stunned, he sat on the ground, tears streaming down his face.
“This is my home! I’m not a bastard!” Nolan cried back through his tears.
Tiger sneered maliciously. “You say you’re not? Where’s your dad then? Call him out!”
Seeing Nolan cry harder and speechless, Tiger only grew more vicious.
“Can’t think of a lie, huh? Your mom probably slept around and got pregnant—just wait, you two will be thrown out soon!”
Slap!
A loud smack echoed through the courtyard.
I couldn’t take it anymore. I stormed forward and slapped Tiger hard across the face.
“Who gave you permission to run your mouth in my pack?”
Tiger stumbled backward, holding his face as he burst into tears.
I rushed to scoop up my trembling son, heart aching fiercely.
Just then, a slim figure bolted into the scene and wrapped her arms around Tiger protectively.
“Tiger! Are you alright?”
The woman’s figure was delicate, her expression frail and pitiful. Who else could it be but Serena?
She saw Aaron hurrying from the corridor and instantly began sobbing while holding Tiger.
“I know we’re from a humble background and don’t deserve to be part of Silver Pack. If Luna Evelyn looks down on Tiger, she can simply kick him out. But why did she have to hit him?”
What a perfect show of victimhood.
Aaron arrived just in time to witness the scene. Hearing Serena’s accusation, his expression instantly darkened.
