Chapter 4
“You call yourself a Beta, yet dare to overstep and command me, the Luna of this pack?”
My voice wasn’t loud, but every word was clear and sharp.
“I am the rightful mistress of this house, yet you show me no respect, flaunting your power within my pack!”
If Alpha Aaron could see what you’ve done—how you’ve humiliated his mate and son—do you really believe he would rest in peace?
My chain of questions left him speechless.
He clearly hadn’t expected me, the once gentle and soft-spoken woman, to strike back so fiercely.
At that moment, a timid Omega pruning flowers nearby mustered the courage to step forward.
“I... I can testify. Just now, it was indeed Tiger who bullied young Nolan.”
“Look at Nolan’s hand—there’s a footprint. And the model spaceship has mud on it, matching the dirt on Tiger’s hands.”
Hearing this, Tiger nervously wiped his hands behind his back.
Aaron’s brows furrowed deeper.
He was about to check on Nolan’s injury when Serena burst into tears again.
“Luna, it’s clear you don’t welcome us. I’ll take Tiger and leave right now. Even if we’re killed by rogues outside, we won’t trouble you again!”
With that, she grabbed Tiger’s hand and turned to leave, putting on a dramatic show of retreat.
Aaron’s face twisted with pain. He rushed forward to stop them.
“Serena, don’t be like this...” he comforted her gently.
Then, raising his voice like he meant me to hear it, he said,
“Alpha Aaron and I were like brothers. He entrusted me with protecting his family before he died. I will never let them be wronged!”
He painted himself as a loyal, righteous protector.
But to me, his words were nothing short of absurd and infuriating.
“Luna Evelyn is not unreasonable. Besides, even if she wants us gone, that decision would require Elder Elizabeth’s approval.”
Aaron added, trying to corner me again.
First he gave me a backhanded compliment—implying I shouldn’t be unreasonable—and then he pulled his mother’s authority into the argument.
What else was he hiding?
Serena, now cradled in Aaron’s arms, buried her face in his chest with a smug smile she didn’t even try to hide.
“You’re so good to me. I knew you’d never let me suffer.”
“Of course…”
Aaron gazed at her affectionately, practically glowing with pride.
Watching this man, who once vowed to love me forever, now embracing another woman right in front of me.
I nearly vomited from the surge of nausea. I gagged a few times, barely holding it back.
“Mother, look! She’s gagging just like you did. Could she be pregnant too?”
Tiger’s voice cut through the air, his expression far too cunning for a child his age.
He did it on purpose.
Aaron’s face changed immediately, a twisted mix of shock, anger, and suspicion.
Serena playfully scolded Tiger, giving him a gentle slap.
“Don’t say such things! Alpha Aaron died five years ago. How could his Luna be pregnant? Unless...”
She trailed off, turning her big teary eyes meaningfully toward “Beta Liam.”
I wanted to explain.
But when I saw the suspicion in Aaron’s eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to say a word.
What use was an explanation to someone who no longer believed me?
“If you intend to remain in Silver Pack, you should show some humility.”
My voice was cold, yet carried a weight of absolute authority.
“This is Alpha Aaron’s pack—not yours, Beta Liam.”
With that, I picked up Nolan and turned to leave.
I caught a glimpse of Aaron’s stunned and furious face. For once, it felt like justice.
His shame and rage were nothing compared to the pain he had caused me.
