Serena was knocked to the ground by my slap, clutching her face and staring at me in disbelief.
Just as I was about to speak, a furious voice exploded from nearby.
“Evelyn, what are you doing?!”
It was Aaron.
In his panic, he even forgot to address me as “Luna Evelyn.”
He lunged forward in a single stride, carefully helping Serena up. His hands instinctively moved to shield her belly as he anxiously asked if she felt any discomfort.
Serena said nothing. She simply buried herself in his arms, sobbing quietly, her shoulders trembling with each breath — looking utterly pitiful.
