Chapter 4 At first, she’s nothing more than a jumble of red linen shirt and a huge cream hat with red roses stumbling toward me. When I manage to steady her and she looks up into my eyes, it’s my whole world that tilts. I wish I could stop my heart from beating too fast and my skin from feeling hot. After a pause, I let my hands slowly fall down and step back. Not far, but enough that I can breathe again. And like a kaleidoscope coming into focus, I’m struck with that sense of déjà vu, of recognition. Of familiarness. Have I met her before? No. I would remember that innocent looking face, the hint of vulnerability in her cinnamon eyes, and that sexy, decadent pink rosebud mouth.
