Real or Fake?

"Yes you do , Mr. Timberlake. "

"What ?, Timberlake?" Nabel asked, puzzled.

"You see , you are the missing son of the Timberlakes. You had an accident twelve years ago, and I suppose you lost your memories. Many believed you were dead, but your parents didn't stop looking for you. Here you are, our master " David said, bowing.

"I think you are mistaken.I have been poor my entire life. Please go. "

"No ,young master . You must come with us to your home. "

"Home?What home ? "

"Your parents are waiting for you at home. Come, let's go ", David spoke, leading Nabel into the black car.

'This is probably a prank ' Nabel thought. But this is real. David shows him houses and properties owned by Timberlake on a tablet.

"You mean my dad owns all this?" He asked, perplexed.

"Please, you need to follow us. Let's take you home"

Nabel entered the car after all. He had nothing to lose, but if he is really the timber lake's missing son, does it mean he owns everything? On their way, they drove past his former house. Nabel looked through the window, he saw his belongings burnt in front of the house.

"My mother-in-law works, I guess" he sighed.

The drive was a long, exhausting one. They got to Timberlake Palace after two hours. They came across a big gate which was opened to them. They drove round the compound before encountering a small gate which guided to the main house.

Nabel stepped out of the vehicle, following David. He saw an old man at the door, a woman who was probably his wife, holding hands.

"Is this him?" The old man asked.

"My son?" He walked to Nabel, held his hands and hugged him.

"Welcome home son", he whispered in his ear.

Nabel felt loved for the first time, even with his rags, the old man embraced him.

"Let's go inside son," Mr. Timberlake said, leading Nabel inside the mansion.

Immediately he stepped in, all the maids, bodyguards, workers lowered their heads to greet Nabel.

"Welcome home young master", they chorused.

Nabel felt embarrassed and shy. He followed his dad into the sitting room.

"Get those clothes off him, wash him, dress him up and bring my son to the meeting room" Alpha king Timberlake said to David.

Nabel was taken to the shower room for a bath. He was given designer clothes to wear.

A hair stylist was brought in to wash and tone his hair.

Nabel had natural rare golden hair but due to his sufferings, his hair turned brown with lice in it.

With his new appearance, his rare golden hair makes him more handsome. Nabel stood in front of a mirror admiring him.

He was taken to the dining room where varieties of delicacies were set on the table. He felt excited and happy seeing so much food in his front.

David excused Nabel to enjoy his meals. He came back in thirty minutes, surprised to see Nabel had finished the meal. He ate every single meal on the table!

"Ha, are you that hungry, young master?" He asked.

Nabel belched in return "Excuse me". He covered his mouth with his hand.

"Now that you are done, let's go to the meeting room, they are waiting for you there", David spoke, leading the way.

"They, who?"

"Your family"

David took Nabel to the meeting room where his dad and other relatives were seated waiting for him.

"Welcome, come join us" Mr. Timberlake beaced Nabel.

Nabel felt shy to be among elites, rich politicians and business people who were his relatives.

"Is this him? He looks so thin and malnourished," Prince Abel Timberlake, Alpha king Timberlake's elder brother said in disappointment.

Prince Abel is a business person in his late sixties. He deals with exporting goods and services.

"I agree, he doesn't look like someone who has our family blood in him. Are you sure he is not a beggar picked from the streets"? Another man with dark brown hair said.

He is Prince Neverland Timberlake. A junior brother to Alpha king Timberlake. The last born of the Timberlake family.

He is a politician, a minister of health. Neverland has a son, Richard, who is the next of kin to Luca (The long ago missing son).

Alpha king Timberlake (Nabel's father)'s real name is Timberlake junior. He was given the name after his father. He is the second born but ends up being the king because the firstborn, prince Abel Timberlake, is an illegitimate child.

Then lastly, Anna Timberlake, their only sister and the third born of the timberlake family. Anna is an ambitious woman with lots of achievements in her name. She is one of the most successful and feared women in Hill City. She is also known for her rude, blunt and wicked attitude.

The four children of Timberlake are ; Prince Abel Timberlake (the firstborn and illegitimate child), Alpha king Timberlake junior (Nabel's dad, the second child), Princess Anna Timberlake (The third born, a very ruthless woman), and lastly's Prince Neverland Timberlake (Richard dad, the last born of the family).

"He is truly my son, I can feel it, I can smell it" The Alpha king said to his sibling.

"Feel? When do you do things based on feelings, huh?" Prince Neverland asked.

"You can't put our future in dangerous hands based on feelings," Prince Abel confirmed, nodding his head.

There was a murmur in the room, the three brothers were arguing .

Amidst their argument, Luna stood up, walked slowly to Nabel. She felt so weak like she was ill.

"Are you really my son, my baby?" She asked with tears. She pulled Nabel closer to her, rolled up his sleeves, looking for a scar on his body.

Nabel was blank, he had no idea of what the woman was looking for.

"There it is," the woman said, barely audible, shivering.

Luca had a burnt scar on his body when he was a kid. He got it from falling from a tree while playing with his friend Ronèe.

A week after the fall, he had a laboratory accident at school. A weak acid poured into the same wound, creating a permanent scar.

"How.. Ho.. How did you get this?" The woman stammered, shivering.

"I don't know, I've always had this on me, wondering where it came from" Nabel answered, confused.

The woman sighed.

"What darling?" the Alpha king asked his wife.

"What is your name?" His wife asked Nabel, ignoring her husband.

"My name is Nabel," he replied.

"Nabel what?"

"Just Nabel, I'm an orphan" .

"Okay". She nodded and walked back to her seat gently. On her way she fell to the ground.

Nabel rushed to her to help her up. "Are you alright? I think you should go to your bedroom to rest", he suggested.

She smiled, patted his head and went to sit.

"He has the scar, the one Luca had," She said.

"So what if he has a scar? Could anyone else have the scar." Mr. Abel said.

"Listen, brother, I know you and your wife miss your son, but it's been more than ten years, give up, your son is dead, quit searching for a dead son", Prince Neverland said. Adjusting his eyeglasses.

"Shut it. Just shut it!" Alpha king yelled at him. "My son is not dead, and I will continue to look for him till I leave this world" .

Princess Anna sighed, she sipped her coffee and placed it on the table. "Instead of arguing like kids, run a DNA test". She spoke for the first time.

Her voice was void of emotion, she crossed her legs and looked at her brother. "Run the test, then we continue from there, we can't sit here talking, it won't prove his authenticity". She said.

"That's right, run a test." Prince Abel agreed.

"Good suggestion". The Alpha king smiled at his sister.

Nabel's heart sank at the mention of a DNA test. What if the result comes out that he isn't their true son?

"No." Luna was against it. "He has the scar, golden hair and that's enough."

She is tired of searching, she doesn't want to lose this man even if he isn't her real son.

A lot of men have been brought here claiming to be her son, but none look like him as much as this man standing before her.

"I agree with Luna, we don't need to carry out the test," Prince Neverland said, supporting her.

His son was supposed to be the heir.

That was the arrangement, since the Alpha king's son was dead and the couple couldn't have another child, the next of kin, Richard. was to become the next Alpha king.

If the DNA result is positive, it means all his plans and arrangement with Richard taking over will be futile.

He can't let that happen.

"Let's just accept that he is truly Luca and give him 30% of the inheritance. He was a beggar. I'm sure he will be grateful forever for changing his life because of that. He will probably jump at your feet appreciating it" He spoke, looking into the eyes of his siblings for approval.

"Mm, not bad," Prince Abel said, stroking his beard.

"Dear?" Alpha king asked his wife if she was okay with it.

"I will go with what Prince Neverland said, the DNA is unnecessary", Luna said, looking at Nabel.

"I won't let you go, my son ," she whispered.

"Utter nonsense!" Anna screamed at them.

She burst out in laughter "Haha, you are all crazy, we are doing that test. After the test, you can decide about sharing the inheritance as you wish. I don't care. I'm calling the family doctor, we are taking the test and that's final." She spoke and slammed her hand on the table to show her annoyance.

"If he is not real?" Prince Neverland asked his sister.

"Do as you like, send him back, give him a share or whatever" Anna replied.

"No," Luna yelled.

"Even if he is not my real son, I will still keep him here to stay with me. After all, he has nowhere to go. He will also get 20%"

"20%, even if he isn't your son? That's about three hundred million dollars. That's too much" Anna asked.

"Yes, I will do that, we do spend money on useless things, we do charity sometimes . So what's $300,000,000? I will love him and treat him like I would to my son", she said.

Nabel felt touched by Luna's statement. He really wanted to stay, most especially to help her get back on her feet. She looked crushed.

"And if he is truly Luca?" Prince Abel asked.

"That's impossible, not even in our dreams, that's why I suggested no need for the DNA...." Prince Neverland spoke but was cut short by his sister, Anna.

"He inherits everything," Anna frankly said.

"What?" Prince Neverland stood up, immediately facing his sister.

"Yes, the timberlake pack was originally his. If this man here is Luca, he owns everything, every single thing", Anna repeated, licking her lips.

Nabel liked Anna immediately. He wondered if she had a grudge against her brothers.

"Impossible, what about Richard?"

Anna scoffed "Richard is only the next of kin. What right does he have to rule Timberlake Park, huh, tell me? Especially when the true heir, the true owner, has been found", Anna yelled at her brother.

The room went silent for a moment, it was intense.

Prince Abel cleared his throat. "Ahem"

"I think there should be a commission for Richard for handling the business this far," He said.

"What commission?Richard didn't handle anything, he was merely anointed as acting Alpha prince, which can be changed anytime, any day."

"Why are you supporting this stranger instead of your nephew?" Prince Neverland threw it at his sister.

"If you have forgotten, is Luca also my nephew?" She glared at her brother, Neverland.

"But if Luca wants to share the inheritance or give Richard a commission, it's up to him. It's up to them" Anna stated. "After all, they are his"..

The room is getting hotter. Neverland and Anna glared at each other.

"Mm, let's take a break, call the doctor, let's do the test and wait for the results, then we decide the '' Alpha king broke the tension.

"Yes, let's do that," Mr. Abel nodded in agreement.

"You should go and come back for the result. Nabel follows David to our family hospital to get the test done" Mr. Timberlake said, dismissing everyone.

Anna's cat walked out first. Neverland followed her immediately. He pulled her to a corner avoiding people's eyes.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"What do you mean by that?" Anna remained calm.

"What was that earlier, alright please stop the test" He begged.

Anna folded her hands "Why should I?"

"Come on, just do it, stop it please"

"Scared?"

"No, not that"

"Then what?"

Prince Neverland thought for a moment "Okay, I will give you 30% of Richard inheritance" He said smiling, thinking his sister will change her mind but Anna is Anna.

"I'm not interested" She said leaving but Neverland pulled her back.

"40?" He asked.

"Nope, how do you know Richard will eventually inherit them, you seem too much like a little brother?" She said, looking at her brother in pity.

"He will, that's why I want you to stop the test"

"I won't." Anna remained firm.

"Why?, what about 50? "

"Hahaha" Anna laughed. "You are so funny. Bye" She said leaving without looking back.

Prince Neverland felt betrayed. Like he has been shot at his heart.

"How could she?" He clenches his fist in annoyance. "She is playing with fire" He whispered, hitting the wall with his fist.
