James' POV
When I felt the bond Marcy created, I was angry. It didn't hurt in a physical sense, but it hurt my pride and ego. My mate bonded with another man, and oddly, it felt like it was supposed to happen. Even so, the thought of her needing another man besides me was infuriating. She went behind my back and didn't even tell me.
To make things worse, I thought I would get an explanation, but when I saw her she told me she bonded with an omega she barely knows. And she didn't know why. None of it made sense, and I knew I would do something I regretted if I stayed there any longer, so I left and went to work. I could feel her heartbreak through the bond, but I was also heartbroken.
We had made plans for the break. She was going to come back to the city for two weeks and stay with me.
