Chapter 14

2934 Words

14 On the morning of Christmas Eve every person in Pitkin Point who owned a snow blower or a plow on the front of their pickup, or a hand held heavy duty snow shovel, chipped in to dig out the park. With so many hands the job of clearing the pathways, the gazebo, and the open areas where the dance floor was later laid out, was short work. Despite the bitter cold, everyone was excited. The snow that covered everything as far as the eye could see, combined with the already placed lights and decorations, made this one of the most magical backgrounds any of them had ever seen for the Christmas Dance. Jamie was one of the people working on snow removal, so Abigail didn't see or talk to him all day on Christmas Eve. Maybe he would be too tired to go to the dance at all, she ventured to hope.
