CHAPTER 39 DOOMSDAY Shea spent the next several hours struggling to endure the pain in her knee. Despite the elevation, the ice, and the ibuprofen, the ache dug deep into her soul. The one blessing was that it distracted her from listening to NCB blathering his nonsense on the screen. When they separated into their breakout groups, Shea occasionally inserted a nonsense response heavily laced with the word amazing. She tried to smile, but even forcing a fake smile felt exhausting at this point. In the late afternoon, the rest of her camp went down to the creek for some relaxation.
