CHAPTER 6 Shortly after dark, a loud rapping at the front door echoed throughout the wood frame of the Oakley farmhouse. Carly heard the banging from the kitchen where she was drying the dinner dishes, putting them in the cupboard to the left of the sink. She stood on a small stool to reach the shelf.
