CHAPTER 17 Hampton stretched. He felt good after a full night’s sleep. Several times he was awakened by strange sounds coming from the dark woods. This morning he was refreshed, but his muscles were sore from his long journey, and once again he was hungry. He wondered about the fox. He had seen the creature enter the shabby building the night before, after leaving Hampton a welcome dinner. Could miracles happen twice? Whether the fox was still inside or had slipped out during the night were beyond Hampton’s comprehension.
